I have a 2002 330i and a month or so I noticed when I tried to start the car, the lights came on and it didn't crank over or anything. Removed the key and tried again and it did the same thing, tried it a 3rd time and it came on like usual. I used drove the car a couple more times with no issue. After a couple days, I pulled it into my garage and when I tried to drive it, it wouldn't start.
The battery is less than a year old, I haven't had any starter problems, like getting stuck while cranking, so I decided to just get a new key made since my key wasn't functioning correctly, I thought maybe the chip went bad, no luck.
Still can't turn the car on, all lights come on, doesn't even crank, have checked for loose likes wires, nothing, looked at the fuses, nothing. Could it be the starter?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Make sure you get 12V at the remote wire on the starter when somebody turns the key. It could be ignition switch going south too btw.
I will try that, thanks for the info. Hopefully it's a simple fix where I don't have to replace the starter.
You need to see if there are faults for ews module and are the keys being recognized my the car
I just had a key made with BMW, hoping it was just the key but that wasn't the case, all lights turn on but that's it. What do I need to look for faults for the ews module?
thanks
