Hi Guys,
New to this sight but not new to BMW's. I recently purchased a 1987 528e with 109K miles that has sat under a protective layer of dirt since 2009. Had to be rescued! FINALLY got it to start with new Motronic 1.0 brain, speed and reference sensors, new battery, new fuses, new relays, new OBC relay box, you get the idea. Starts but runs like crap so replacing fuel injectors after replacing fuel pump, filter, new inlet boot and hoses, timng belt, hoses, belts, etc. NOW, the brakes!!! Front brakes were seized so bought replacement rotors, pads, rebuilt calipers, brake lines. Went to bleed and got the "hard pedal" syndrome. Little fluid through the calipers but super hard pedal. Bought a pressure unit to bleed that way but still little fluid (milky) through the calipers. This is an ABS car so not sure if next steps are Master Cylinder replacement, ABS unit rebuild??? Looking for some help as I know this is not the first time this issue has come up. Have enjoyed reading and learning from this site.
1987 528e (current project)
2004 645ci (daily driver)
2000 328i (Sons new car)
2006 330ci (Daughters new car)
2002 325ci (ex-wifes car)
1987 325e (project in waiting)
1984 735i (long gone but a great ride)
1978 320is (the first)
Most likely the master cylinder and bomb. If you push hard enough, can you get it to hit the floor?
Anyways, disconnect the two abs wires leading up to the brakes, I doubt they'll be the issue.
MyE28.com knows these cars the best, so I suggest you check them out for your project and for speedy responses.
