short shifter ideas for 84 733i?

Hi guys I have 1984 733i, I've looked around on sites like Turner motor sports and most short shift kits are for 86 and after. Is the bavauto short shift kit for 300$ my only choice? Also do euro 7 series have thicker sway bars?? Looking to beef up but once again nobody seems to make them for our sharks. Happy Saturday driving!

Stick a UUC in there, loved it on my old 735 manual. Also solid shift plate mounts.
    I make E23 parts.

Forgot to reply to your sway bar question, only Euro models with SLS had the rear bar...still dinky around 14mm. Front was the same, around 27mm. Puny rear is the issue there. I have had cars with and without OE rear, it does nothing for handling that I could notice. But I am certainly not the authority on suspensions.

Start with a fully fresh stock suspension with good dampers (Bil HD) and high quality Z rated low profile tires.

Thanks Hit Man for the great knowledge as always. So does UCC make one for 84 year or should I try 85 year kit and make it work?
What's your current daily? Yeah I'm buying the bilstein HD soon. Tnx

The UUC should be PN - USSE5-E, for the cars with the sheet metal shifter plate...they are not very helpful there, just FYI. Especially for E23s, they act as if the cars do not exist and do not care to expand their knowledge base to other models. Seems foolish when you cater to BMW.

Their shifter is a lot shorter than the OE E23 dump truck shifter. I tried a bunch of different units, even the really short BMW MZ3 which I dug the throws but it needed a slightly rearward cant. The UUC fit the bill perfect for me. It is height adjustable and I seem to recall running it in the middle of the height adjustment area.

I had a custom SS clutch hose made, Technafit can do it for you. Clutch pedal stop to keep it from going further than needed. Solid mounts at the sheet metal plate to the back of my 265/6. Ummm... oh and an air cleaner mount for the rear sheet metal plate. FAR quicker and crisper throws with very limited slop. It is as good as you can make a 250k mile Getrag shift.

Current daily? 1990 MB 300SEL, when I am tired of the lack of torque I drive the 560. But it needs a valve job, sometimes I drive the 300E. 10/84 is up in air as I am pulling the ZF tonight to build.

I installed a UUC e28 short shift kit in my '81 733i and love it. A bit stiff when new but within a 1000 miles it settles in nicely. Totally worth the investment.

Then, to finish it off, I installed an e30 ///M3 all in one boot-shifter. eBay around $250. Cheers
