2002 525I automatic but need engine & transmission

I found a 2002 525i with bad engine and bad transmission. I like the car but I want to look for a car with similar engine and similar transmission. What time frame am I suppose to restrict my search to, for a replacement engine and transmission?

If I'm understanding your question correctly, you would need to look at the E39 platform which goes from 1997-2003. I have also attached a link to our site's DIY tech articles for that platform in case you're going to be doing any work yourself. Best of luck!

Sorry I mislead you. It is a 2002 325i NOT a 525i. When a car model such as 2002 325i were built, they were built from year x to year y. If I buy a BMW parts car 335i model in this time period, the engine will fit into my 2002 325i.
