How come the middle half of any project always takes the most time?
Price???
Please get in touch to discuss and make an offer 8^) Currently listed at $11,500 in Roundel, but it could go for more....

Excellent a car offered for 11.5 with a seller saying they may want more. Almost all non-fixed price sales have the seller dropping the price a tad to make the buyer feel they got a good deal. Here the seller can take that point of pride and the buyer just gets the car and a higher price. Does look nice and ready for someone that cares to put some tlc into its looks.
That TLC, the undercarriage needs some serious pressure washing, the interior needs a bucket of conditioner to revitalize the leather and bring the color back and the exterior if you say is tired needs a $200 buff to make it shine. For that ask, these items should be taken care of before the pics and for sale offers go out. Eliminate questions.

Always useful to learn the insights of the market observers. Did I say I wanted more? No, I didn't, but I'll certainly accept it if you insist. Tongue, meet cheek 8^)
Clarification has been applied to the online info; thanks for bringing it to my attention. Car is $11,500, email is 745i@finemotoring.com or maxlumens@finemotoring.com.

For $11.5 does it have new tires or recent maintenance ? Water pump, hoses, brakes, etc??
I passed on one in Springfield IL in a little nicer condition for $5,500.
Have to agree about the above comment. Tired paint and that engine compartment and undercarriage shows like it may have more than 50k miles.
SLS is obviously inop also. Depending how long it has been like this (probably a long time as the for sale photos feature TRXs), rear control arm bushings are destroyed due to the incorrect rest position of the suspension. Been there, done that.
Interior looks very good.
Hope you attain that $11.5k asking price, but it will not happen.

Thanks for the comments, gents. @8891xj, I enjoy detailing a car, but I'm getting a little old for all that shoulder work. I assume the buyer will enjoy detailing it also. I gotta believe you'd do everything over again to suit yourself no matter what I did, so I chose to do not much. The car is basically as it arrived; I think the cobwebs underneath add a certain organic patina. Do you really think making it shiny will add a lot to the price? I lean the other direction, tho I have a gallon of Armor All around somewhere. Slippery interiors never impressed me much. I knew an old cracker mechanic once who put mayonnaise on his tires.
@kojo96, if there was any doubt about the mileage it would have been flagged in the auction docs. In Japan, the government holds the title and registration, and cars go for a major mechanical test every two years. It's more difficult to fudge the odometers there, but not, of course, impossible. To buy a car you have to prove you can store it off the street, and nobody who could afford this car would drive it daily. LOTS of Japanese cars have absurdly low miles; the owners took the subway or their kei car to work and drove the nice car to Mt Fuji on the weekends. There is an 89 535i and a 91 850i up for sale tonight, each with 34K km on the clock. If anyone is interested in bringing in a car, get in touch.
@flyovercountry- If it was a nice car you liked, why not buy it? I put a new radiator in this one, but per my observation about detailing, why would I do what you would prefer to do yourself? Buy this car and I'll throw in a free hydroboost rebuild kit and you can start doing things to your preference.
You current owners may be selling your cars a bit short. One went at auction for over 800k yen recently, to my surprise.
@hitman- Appreciate the tech info. I'll put it up in the air and check things out. Scratching my head a little about the "rest position" thing, since these bushings are simply at the end of their normal operating range, not hanging down nor improperly tensioned like UCA bushings. They're only 44mm tho, so maybe that affects things??? I'm more familiar with e31 rears, where I can't actually wrap my head around what's going on but have the tools to do the bushings. And with M5s, where everyone deletes the SLS.
As for the $11.5K, make an offer. 8991xj already proved it's easier to go down than up 8^) Certitude about price is often unfounded IMHO. I get tunnel vision about valuation all the time. I have too many cars, tho I'm more attracted to this one than some of the others, nice car. Wanna buy an 8? Got a couple M-Individual 840s that need detailing.....
How come the middle half of any project always takes the most time?
I got nothing to say but
Needs some love and I hope it fetches asking price. For a couple Ger's more I'll sell someone mine :P
@kojo96- You had nothing to say the first time but it didn't slow you down much 8^) But feel free to proffer your opinions, of course; there's a global shortage of those lately....
There have been a few e21 M535is up for auction recently, all white and automatics. And an Alpina B6 2.7 w/117k, but also an automatic, go figure.

@SicStang03- Beautiful ride you have! We should work a trade, given our locations. Black car to the NW, white car to Atlanta, makes climatic sense anyway.

Misspoke, meant e28. The B6 was an e30. Here's one, maybe still available- http://auction.pacificcoastjdm.com/s...id=220700538&s
And a sad 745 junker that sold for $400- http://auction.pacificcoastjdm.com/s...id=222057196&s

Why aren't we talking about this? Is this a real Hartge 745i?

Also, OP, why don't you list your car on bringatrailer while they're having a March sale? $49 to list instead of the usual $250.

That does have a couple Hartge included items it seems. Not enough for me to say but it does seem interesting with the build sheet and some more options on the outside.
Man, you guys take some great pix of your cars. They look like 4-door e24s instead of sedans. Mine being stock and white makes that a little tougher, but still my hat's off to you.
I enjoyed BAT a lot in the early days but the charm wore off. Lots of brain-dead dishpits in the peanut gallery, and the mods insist on writing the ad copy in their own inimitable style. I had another car all teed up there last week and just couldn't pull the trigger. I have a friend who's a very savvy car guy masquerading as a musician, and he dreads BAT picking up on his car ads, says it draws more idiots than aficionados. Perhaps I'm overly judgmental 8^)
I put it here for your enjoyment, didn't really expect guys who already own one to be buyers. But you never know. I think I posted a factory manual here a couple years ago. I used to loiter on the e31 board a bit.

I have yet to see another auction site bring the kind of numbers on e23's that bringatrailer does. A 728i euro that needed some body work just sold for 4200 dollars last month, that would NEVER happen on ebay or craigslist let alone this forum. If you actually want it sold for anything close to your price, that is the only place to do it.

Cool. I'll wait til you get $20K for yours and then list mine there 8^) Good luck.

Same thing reported about BAT by a friend with a cherry 850CSi.

Damn I'll sell mine right now for 4500$
Enjoy sitting on your car :^)
They go off market data. I imagine they don't let people just pick any reserve you want because you'd have a lot of people overpricing cars, you know, the "I know what I have, no lowballs!" type people. They don't want a ton of no sale auctions on their site. I wish you the best of luck, I fully expect your car to sell in the 5 digit price range.
