    Keyless trouble shooting

So, I bought my 99' M Roadster over the weekend. I was going to install the OEM keyless system then I noticed it already had the factory LED and glass breakage sensor, which means it did indeed have the OEM keyless system already installed. I had and extra OEM remote at the house, so I programed it to my car. I'm getting the three chirps and nothing happens (no lock/unlock). I've had this happen before on various BMWs that I've owned. I tried unplugging the hood switch, no change. I checked the switch attached to the stereo. I unplugged it, no change and pressed it in firmly, no change. So, this leads me to believe it is worn out door strikers (had this happen in my 98' Z3 and I think it also happened in my 96' too. I ordered two brand new units to replace mine, they should arrive later this week. Is there anything else it could be? I think I covered all bases but wanted to check.
    Thanks everyone!!

Do you have inpa setup on a laptop. If not checkout 328 power 04 (Abel) z3 diag thread for everything you'll need. Then you can see which sensor is faulted

Did you look behind your glovebox to make sure it's actually installed? I ripped mine out (wiring was a rat's nest, keyless entry had rotten reception anyway).

It's there alright, otherwise it wouldn't have taken the remote programming or be making the chirping sounds.

I can get mine to flash and alarm when I hold down the button.... then it will lock, but won't unlock with the key fob.
I have basically given up on trying / caring.

It might be worth checking the wiring loom between the body and the boot/trunk. Strange problems with central locking may be attributed to breaks in the loom due to the wiring flexing.

I'll check but I can 100% say that my central locking functions perfectly.

OK, I bought two new door sill strikers from the dealership ($30, not bad at all). I installed both of them in under an hour and *BAM*, working keyless!!
