    Aftermarket Amp Installation?

Can someone tell me which wires (what color code) are the ones coming from the radio(outputs) to the aftermarket amp (inputs)?
It would appear to be these:

But can someone tell me what color is what: RF,LF,RR,LR and do they use a common ground?

I'll look at my amp when I get home. It's a 2000 m roadster so may be the same and may not. You could pull the head unit and check from that end if you're using a aftermarket head. All outputs have individual grounds

    Thanks Randy,

    So does V=Front and H=Rear?

H = Hinter, rear. So I have to assume V= front

I'm not sure I trust that diagram... two - having the same color. ]I'm going to look at a different year and see what's up.

And to answer your other question, they are not common ground.

Ok, Vorderseite=Front. it's making much more sense to me now. Other than the two Yellow/Brown wires.

All wiring diagrams 97-02 show the same input color pairs. Not saying I believe them due to that double yellow/brown. Each channel should be a single twisted pair. From that hopefully you can sort out which is what by the positive side colors.

Sorry E.hands I forgot to check my amp wiring when I got home tonite because I had to take the car to the body shop. Some asshole side swiped my passenger door Friday at a doctors office and took off. Thanks Randy for posting that schematic I think that's the same one I used. E.hands I assume you're going to cut the plug off at the amp and fly lead to your new one. If so then you can verify by cutting out one channel at a time to see if it jives.

I believe I've got it. I pulled the radio and wrote down the colors and what pin they were on. Used this diagram to determine channels and which radio output is negative and which was positive. The red stripe was almost indistinguishable on one of the blue wires at the back but the fact that they were in bundles helped out a lot.

I may still have some phase issues but that will be verified once I change the speakers out tomorrow. Best Buy here I come!
Anybody need a factory amp/crossover, CD changer, bracket, sub enclosure w/ driver?

V is front, vorderste(r). The way I was thinking of it it when I was making my "cheat sheet" was "Vront" and "Hind." L and R are also left and right.

If you use the pin numbers on the connectors, you can verify which is which without testing. Mine all checked out, including when some wires were repeating colors. There are two actual connectors making up X1717, at least for my 2000 late production with HK. Does that help? I guess I could finish the diagrams for the amps; I've been making them with some linux program on my crappy laptop and they'll be contained in one single diagram. Anyway, I was able to verify all the ones I copied from TIS and Prodemand (they matched, surprisingly).

BONUS: WS=white, RT=red, SW=black, GE=yellow. All of the others "match" English abbreviations.
