Anyone ever tried to replace a snap-on tool under warranty?

I'm not a repair professional, but I have acquired a few snap-on tools over the years. Now I find I have one that needs replacing (a hammer, of all things) but what I thought was a "craftsman-like" lifetime warranty is different for home users. Should I chase down one of the mobile dealers or attempt to do battle with corporate? Any suggestions?

Chase down the local truck, and the rep should swap it out for you.

"should" being the operative word. I've had tool truck guys try to dodge the guarantee, Snappy in particular.

Yeah, I've had that too. Less likely when the guy with the broken tool is a pro who buys a couple thousand dollars of stuff every year from him. That said, I haven't had a reliable SnapOn guy since I left Maui. The two in western NC are absolutely worthless; I have maybe $20k in SnapOn tools and box, work for a shop with four master techs, and the SnapOn guy can't be bothered to stop in more than twice a year....so now I'm buying Mac and Matco.

Yeah, I figure the guy would be a lot less inclined to tell someone to sod off at a busy stop in front of his other customers. You'd swear it came out of their hide sometimes.
