When i unlock my car with my remote or key my gas cover opens. The only way to close it is to push on the cover and hit my lock button. So when i want back in the car it opens and can't close it. Any suggestions
That's odd but I would venture a guess it has nothing to do with the unlocking the car. The gas door is locked whenever the car is locked. When you unlock the car, the gas door will be unlocked but should remain closed. Inspect the mechanism that holds it closed as that is where your problem will lie.
Are u referring to the pin thing with the little boot around it? I tried wd40 but no luck. I am gonna investigate further. Im wondering if i can buy the part.
There is a lock mechanism on your fuel door. Maybe it's bent thus opening the door when you unlock the car.
The thing is that the lock mechanism works fine. It locks when i lock the car but when i unlock the car it pops open . When i lock the door i actually hold the fuel door shut and hit the lock button on the key.
Right, I had the same issue. The rod that holds the door locked is probably bent.
that's not a defect, that's a feature (j/k)

My girlfriend just told me that 2x when she had the car she had just pulled the gas door open when putting gas in. She didnt realize that you push on the door and it pops open cuz the car doors were always locked when she pushed on it. Im figuring by just pulling it open she probably bent that pin. Makes sense anyway. Thanks for everyones input. Ill update when i fix it. Gonna try n vet a new lock thing.

The locking rod, as noted in another post, is supposed to be curved. When the car is unlocked, so is the gas door. If you cannot shut the gas door when the car is unlocked, the problem is not the locking rod. Open the gas door and lock/unlock the car to see how it is suppose to function.
Ok fair enough and thanks for the more accurate information. Maybe it is the support of the locking rod that gets bent if you pull on the fuel door while it is closed. I will have to go look at my car to confirm. It was awhile ago when it happened on mine and I noticed the rod was hitting the door at an angle. I bent something around that area to get it back in alignment.
