Finally some photos - ZA 745i

I'm taking the 745i in to a specialist tomorrow to get assessed and to attend to a number of issues.

I took the car to a car show this morning at the appropriately named Piston Ring Club, which has a get together every third Sunday of the month, and all cars are welcome as long as they are over 25 years of age. The 745i got more attention than I expected and was the only E23 there.

I took some photos this afternoon on a hill overlooking Pretoria:

holy xxx, look at those center consoles.
Moved the ashtray to in front of the parking brake,
Moved the widow switches to the correct location on both sides of the shifter
Moved the rear lockout switch away from the rear seats to the shift surround
Opened up the stock ashtray location for driving gloves and such
Moved the memory seat switch to a less desirable position, no worries not like these are two driver cars anymore
Moved the gearbox selector up to make way for the window switches

First time I have seen that, would love to have it in my 7. I did move the rear window switches to the sides of the ashtray and moved the seat heater switches to the parking brake cover. More logical I think. But I would still like to have that center console but unfortunately, it would not fit an LHD car.

Thanks for the pics. Does that BMW sticker below the radio say anything special?

The E23 is old enough now to get some respect. Glad you confirm there is interest in South Africa.

That is the standard layout on the ZA 745i - I haven't done a thing.

I'm big on originality as it left the factory, so no, I won't be doing any modifications. What I do want to do is to change the interior back to the original Oyster Nappa leather.

I did think that those consoles were the ones that came in the car. They just have so much that I prefer, maybe because I have had my E28 since 86 and didn't get my E23 until 10 years later and I was used to the controls where they are in the 5, similar to your 7.

Based on a quick google, the ZA745i was made better than the rest of the E23s out there with this set of consoles and switch positions.

It has been very well done and is very presentable, but not original.
