Just purchased a 2001 M5 with 135,000 miles what type of parts should I look to replace at this mileage?
Very broad question. Without knowing the maintenance history behind it: I would say replace all the fluids to start, motor oil, diff, coolant, brake, transmission.

I am having to car checked out I got the car for three thousand. To make it right I would have to put in about five thousand to get it right. It needs O/2 sensors some bushing front and rear on the suspension. All the weather strips a paint job and the left front door lock cylinder. And it need a hood cable and of course I will get a major service and all fluids. Even with this things that needs to be done the car is pushing about 420 horsepower it is a beast. Also this vehicle is going to be a project vehicle not a everyday driver weekends only.
Wow $3k M5. Nice find, but from the sounds of it, it definitely needs some TLC.
How is the car pushing 420hp? Does it have headers?
