Business Radio Problems.

2001 X5 OEM Business Radio/MID, no DSP, non nav.
Unable to set clock, cannot switch between AM/FM.
Clock only allows minutes and year to be changed up using the buttons.
I had this problem a couple of times and cured it by removing radio & MID from the vehicle. Once reinstalled the full functions were restored however not this time. I even changed out the Business Cassette tape player for a used Business CD player to no avail. The problems started when the vehicle had to be jump started.

Hi,

You might need to find another MID and radio that's known to be working and correct for your car's build date. Jumping a car incorrectly can cause issues/failures with modules on these cars too, so perhaps that's the reason why.

Thanks for the reply. I already changed out the BR from a cassette model to a CD model and still had the same problems. I know the "jump start" started all these problems because it had happened before but no easy return to full service this time. A used MID with unknown pixel problems costs around $200. I think I'd rather put that into a new aftermarket Navi/radio/stereo unit with Bluetooth. Something like Dynavin/Avin Avant-2/Hualigan is what I have in mind. Should have done it years ago.
