Hi Bimmerforums,
I am about to pull the trigger. In one corner is a 2016 Sapphire Black 340i Xdrive on a lease swap with 27 months left (does not have the track handling package) on the other corner is a 335i Xdrive Msport in Mineral Grey Metallic and would appreciate some input. BOTH give me over 1200 miles per month to drive.
Am I missing out by not having the track handling package on the 340? Clearly the 340i is faster but without the track handling package Is the steering that much better on the 340i than the 335?
The 2015 335i Xdrive Msport similarly equipped (option sheet attached) with 13 months left. Payment wise the 335 is about 60 bucks less per month (insurance maybe a few bucks less too) and a shorter remaining months lease term.
Am I passing up what will inevitably be my next car by choosing the 335i for payment, term's sake? Will I be paying roughly the same dough for a lesser car?
BTW this post did not give me enough data points to help my decision 2015 335i vs 2016 340i--Which would you choose?
Thank you!
Ryan

335i M-sport for the steering wheel...but if after holding both wheels doesnt convince you, then choose the one that is cheaper...lol.
I doubt you will feel much difference between the engines in normal driving, maybe if you took them on the track you would.
Other than M-sport and Track Handling package, are all the other options the same?
Current: 2011 X3 35i M-Sport, Deep Sea Blue Metallic, Oyster Napa interior, Afe intake, RaceChip Ultimate.
Past: 1998 M3 sedan, Cosmos Schwartz Metallic, Black interior, Euro 6-speed, AA Stage II TwinScrew supercharger, and a bunch of other mods.
Just picked up a '15 335i xdrive (coincidentally in mineral gray-looks much better than it sounds) and love it so far. Plenty fast and comfortable. Mpackage but not track or adaptive suspension. Fun with the manual transmission.
BUT - it is noticeably softer and more comfort oriented than my '07 328xi which I consider a negative. Haven't driven a 340i but I've heard they've tweaked this a little.
Interesting. I've been thinking about trading my '07 328xi and getting an F30 (the styling is a bit more aggressive and less bulbous, which I like), but I keep seeing comments about how soft they are, and complaints about the quality of the interior materials. Granted, I expected to see more complaints than raves in the forums, but it kind of makes me wish I'd kept the old '92 E36...
need to reply to this.
Found out that car was delivered with tire pressures 35psi all around, checking the door jamb I found that 32F/38R was recommended. Made the change and the car feels like a BMW again. Now I use Sport mode for daily driving and love the feel. IMHO, Comfort mode is useful only for reducing driver fatigue on long trips
