I'm looking to borrow a reset tool to get rid of the airbag light in my car. Happy to provide the six pack of your choice. Please PM me.
Thanks
Terry
Hi Terry, and welcome to the forum.
Just wondering....why is your airbag light illuminated?
I ask, because a "RESET" is, most often, not the cure for an airbag code.
And certainly, you need to specify what year and model BMW you're intending to clear codes on.
No, I'm not anywhere near Seattle, but you haven't given anyone enough information to know whether they might be able to help you. No one's likely to PM you if they have no idea of what situation you're dealing with, or why it occurred.

Yes, model and built year is necessary. For example the Peake SRS code reader and reset tools
Peake Research Airbag Code Tool for BMW 1994-2000 (R5-SRS)
Peake R5/SRS-U BMW Airbag Scanner/Reset Tool 1994-2003
but no BMW before 1994, same with the cheapo chinese made one B800, 1994 >
Shogun tricks and tips for the E32 series are HERE!
Point well taken, gentlemen. Thanks.
The car is a 2008 328i coupe, and the light came on during a brisk--but not panic--stop. It also threw a seatbelt light at the same time. a local shop reset the light, but it only stayed off for a day before coming on again during another stop, gentle this time. If it ever stops raining in Seattle, I'll crawl under the seats and fool with the wiring to see if it's a bad connector.
What were the codes that the shop tool read?

+1.....that's the crucial question. Without the actual codes, you're shooting in the dark. With the codes, you know exactly what connection or component is causing the problem.
"Crawling under the seats to fool with the wiring and seeing if it's a bad connector" is not going to work for you. Looking at the connectors can't help. Besides, the code won't clear, until it's cleared with a diag computer.
Your car's airbag system is incredibly complex....what's under the seats is a minuscule part of the system. You just can't fix this, without having at least two specific conversations with the airbag module: one to determine the fault, and one to clear the codes after you've fixed the fault.
(That said: my WildAssedGuess: Passenger seat occupancy detector.) Do NOT trust me on this.

Wait for codes, like Chris said, but if I were to put money in a poll, my bet would be on the seatbelt latch mechanism driver's side you didn't say whether anyone was in the passenger seat when you threw the codes. Also, I have a bad passenger seat sensor in my car, and recognize that it's triggered by people getting into and out of the seat after I reset it. i have the part, just haven't had the time to take apart the seat, plus I rarely have front seat passengers (the kids sit in back).
