Serious contender for the Dead Pool.....

That's right another contender coming from behind. Front mount turbo or twin screw supercharger, everyone wins!!
It's been killing me to have my dreams on hold to the point of wrapping up the intended motor, and putting the car back together.IMG_20170216_105214.jpg
The long awaited spacer adapter has been designed and run with one issue requiring rework. But it's a thing of beauty, utilizing factory intake gaskets.IMG_20170216_105342.jpgIMG_20170216_105403.jpg
So I got back on making my fuel rail. Now I need to buy all the materials in stainless, but maintaining and improving the fleet has been costing alot and I need a break.IMG_20170216_105233.jpgIMG_20170216_105706.jpg
The fuel rail was actually easier than I thought, and it's good to make things again. I'm working on variants for m60/m62 and t.u. motors, so three styles.
Only thing left is splicing the wiring harness to go over or around the big lump, and plumbing the intercooler and dedicated water pump. Those are $3-400 depending on stock or performance, plus radiator.
So not done yet and anxiously waiting to install the mockup, so I can figure out the rest.
I hope we have gotten the engine failure issue resolved with regapped rings as I don't want to have that problem. I have a few victims ready and waiting.
Not slowing down the process but anticipating transmission failures, I have just about finished the manual to automatic swap that requires no coding and can handle more torque and HP than any BMW can make or allow an automatic s62 to be had.

I'm quite sure it's neither of those.

WagHo, what is the S/C? I don't know what I'm looking at...

Damn nice machine work. Love the IM gasket grooves. Is that the SC'er from the GM cars?

Holy guacamole! The Ho'meister starts to come through! Anybody taking action on which 540 project escapes the DeadPool first!?

Kinda looks like that is gonna be a high-rise stack... or am I reading it wrong or is it a trick of the pic? Picturing an E39 w/ a blower sticking out of the hood, old school hot rod style...

No betting allowed. Like I said, everyone wins with dead pool success. Timelines go out the window when trying to create something.
Had I just carved out a piece of metal with the die grinder, this thing would be running already. But to have a factory style install when there is 1000 of these new caddy north star units available made more sense.
The spacer was kept low to place the injector nozzle only 1/2" above stock location.
And yes, it all fits under the hood.
The trans adapter came about as a way to use the beautiful 540 I bought to rob the six speed. Doing a bmw manual to auto swap would be brutal., but this only requires mounting the crank trigger in the bellhousing spacer and matching the output speed sensor.

Have you ever investigated whether the crank sensor from the M62s are compatible with the crank sensor from the M60? I think it's a long shot, but if the bimmer engineers were being lazy, maybe the sensor is essentially the same piece, and the missing tooth is in the same spot on the damper mounted trigger wheel? Could be a way around even bothering with creating a crank sensor provision in the transmission adapter?

Could be! But thats a lot of work to change a timing cover and extend the wires to the new location. I'm kidding of course but I had thought about using the early style in my non BMW install and use the obd 1 ecu
Path of least resistance, says when you plot the bellhousing patterns on the cmm, just locate the trigger on the adapter. That way no mods are required to change parts on a road trip. Heck, you could use this adapter to put a good tranny in a Range Rover or an x5 as awd model's are available.

Suppose to be doing paying work today but couldn't help myself. Added the pressure regulator assembly for a 97 fuel rail on the first sample.
Passed the pressure test. Second rail has much better detail on the injector nozzle now that I'm getting set up for multiples. Built a holding fixture and dimpled the tube before drilling holes. IMAG2822.jpgIMAG2821.jpg

It's been months, of waiting, waiting, begging, pleading to get version 2.0 on the adapters made. So long there were rumors that i had abandoned the project. They are finally done and they fit. There are still small details to work out with the adapters but i didn't have anything previous with which to build to.
When the first ones were made back in January , i waited for a month to start this thread thinking the corrected one would be here soon. I had got back on the punch list and got the fuel lines built. Then i lost momentum.
I did finsh the a/c pulley conversion to 7 rib during my 4 month wait.

I now have the final placement but there is still a lot to do.
Of course, now it's the busy season again and i will have to misappropriate time to this project. 1495669964260-2145781004.jpgAttachment 600984

If you've been following along in the engine rebuilding thread, we've been discussing s/c engine failures. So no,I'm committed to blowing up 4.4's till we confirm what the causes are.
And all test mockups say it fits underhood. We will have confirmation shortly.

I've read every page of the engine rebuilding thread, also the jag thread on the boost site, I'm doing a budget 4.4+ ring regap + jag supercharger, I had 3 superchargers in hand today all missing the accessories.

    I won't play with my 4.6 + boost yet

Then you should really reconsider this over the jag setup. I know its running and mine is in progress, but there are alot of improvements with this setup.

Well it doesn't stick up so you'll just have to run with no hood. And for full effect yell "I am the night rider"
Or drive with a hood and the stereo on. And instead of max chasing you, just to police.

So what are your next steps, and your expectation(s) if any for your rate of progress?

Did you ever say what you were planning for tuning?
