Upgrade for e36 m3 rear speakers? non-HK
I have a 95 m3 coupe with blown rear speakers. this car does not have the optional h/k sound option. Bav sound does not offer a replacement for these speakers. Anyone aware of a relatively plug-and-play option that will work? I miss my music with the windows down...

What size are the rear speakers? I've heard that Clarion is a popular option with BMW owners. If you're able to find MB Quartz speakers that will work, I would HIGHLY recommend those (sound is incredible).

Hi,
There's also lots and lots of forum postings over BMW and car audio sites with upgrades of what many other E36 owners have done. I suggest you have a look around and evaluate what you'd like and go from there.
Cheers, Dennis!
I just went through this exact situation on my 95 M3 with standard hifi. I did a huge amount of online research into every option I could think of, so I might be able to help you with some suggestions.
First off, did you email BavSound? Even though their website says they don't have non-HK kits for 95 cars, if your car is a later build their 96+ non-HK kit should work. Mine was a July 95 build and they said the 96+ non-HK kit would work in it.
Beyond that, you have to start asking other questions like: What is your budget? Are you using the factory head unit and do you plan on replacing it? What type of music do you typically listen to? How big of a project are you willing to take on? Etc.
I would highly suggest checking out this thread. It was a huge help to me in understanding the basics of the E36 audio system and the options for upgrading it properly:

Eventually my own project ended up snowballing into replacing every speaker with Polk Audio components, and replacing the factory amp with a Zapco bluetooth model.
