I noticed last weekend that my motor mounts are trashed, boots are opened up and look terrible. Sounds like this is my next project. The OEM BMW motor mounts are absurdly expensive for such an item and i'm pretty sure Lemforder is the OEM supplier anyway. Any thoughts on using Lemforder or another brand? Thanks.

~$60/each is too expensive of a part that lasts 10-20 years? If I didn't do genuine BMW, I would go with the Lem's or another top OEM brand. If you're looking for something a little stiffer, I read that the e39 M5 mounts can be used as well.

Genuine BMW is right around $120 a piece per ECS tunning and pelican parts. Thats just ridiculous in my opinion. The other manufacturers range from around $40 to $65 which is much more in line for what I feel it should cost. I have had good luck with Lemforder on other suspension parts but was wondering about corteco which I saw some people install. Your correct in a part that has lasted 20 years is hard to be a cheapskate on but I do love researching car parts!

I used these... So far so good and pretty easy to swap out so no big deal...
I think Corteco is OEM and you can Buy them at Oem.Bimmerparts for 49.00
ECS tunning had a decent price on Lemforder motor mounts and tranny mounts so I ordered those. the Corteco was slightly cheaper but would take much longer to get here in KY coming from CA. Any tips on lifting the engine up the 2 inches needed for clearance? I know some advocate lifting the brackets with a bottle jack instead of the motor.

Those look really good too.

I used Febi. They make some parts for our cars so can't be the worst thing. No way I was gonna spend 100+ each for OEM.

This is a very good read too guys, specially the second page. Probably not the most common failure but certainly just be aware of the possibility with non-genuine parts.
Just so you guys know, the E39 M5 mounts and the E38 750il mounts are the same and a bit stiffer. They are recommended for a slight upgrade. Corteco is the OEM for BMW and seem to be good quality.

Whats the difference? Realoem shows the same parts numbers for 740 and 750?

Whoops, my apologies... you're right. I quickly searched the PN and was seeing $60 and didn't remember what I paid for mine years ago... I paid $91 each when I didn't know of Lem and the M5 option. I usually buy Genuine BMW whenever I can. You're right that ~$120/each is ridiculous. I haven't heard of the Corteco brand that people are mentioning but I based on history, I wouldn't hesitate with Lem.

I used Febi on a friend's, seemed pretty good quality and have been fine so far.
The Lemforder motor mounts and tranny mounts came in the mail today. I read the box and it says "made in China", geezzz. I'm sure they will be just fine but annoying so little is made in Germany these days even from a German company.
