Hi guys
I need help please. I have changed the front shocks, changed the lower control arm bushings, done wheel balancing but my steering vibrates when braking when driving around 60 km/h. The vibration becomes less when dropping to 40 km/h and when I apply the brakes hard.
There is no vibration on the brake pedal, just the steering wheel.
When I changed the lower control arm bushings I noticed the ball joints rubber boot is torn but the ball joint was not loose and the mechanic also confirmed that it can still drive.
So what what could cause the vibration (when braking only), the car steering does not vibrate even when driving 160 km/h?

Have you checked the brake rotors themselves? Possible warp in the rotor can cause the vibration that you're referring to.

Warped brake rotors, curse of after market brake parts?
Do they have to be warped in the middle or towards the outer and inner diameters of the rotor?
I had a similar issue. Mine was due to bent rims. Noticed shaking when I drove 70+ on the highway. Didn't notice in town or while breaking, though.
I did wheel balancing and the car drives very nice even at high speeds without shaking, only when I apply brakes I feel the shake on the steering wheel. Something I did not mention in my first post, when driving at slow speed (less 30 km/h) and I apply breaks slightly I can feel some type of unevenness on braking, it feels like the brakes catches and let go.
I you dont have oem BMW brake rotors and pads, you have warped rotors. Want to never have a problem again like this use factory brake rotors and pads, yes they are expensive. Do they work great, yes, do they have great pedal feel, yes, do they produce a bunch of dust, yes. But they rarely warp.
Thanks guys.
