“Five days” says the machine shop. Grumble, grumble grumble. It’s been over a month now. Maybe they mean five days when they eventually start on it?
Hmmm maybe
I guess I’m doing ok then. The engine shop will be done tomorrow but the head won’t be done until next week. I managed to slice the palm of my hand open so my hand is off line for a week or so until it heals and get the stitches out.
Phil, my hand damage will slow the S54 oil pump mods. I just need to make a fixture to mount to the milling machine but I can’t even hold a pen right now..
It pains me to see that hand. I am in absolutely no rush on the oil pump — could be months before I get bored enough to even think about changing the pan and pump.
I have all my engine parts back except the oil pumps. The head looks good. My head guy posted up some pics on his Facebook page.....

My hand has healed enough that I could lift the engine parts. Yay! So I got a bit done on it. Coolant passages at #6 cylinder have been cleaned up with die grinder, block masked and painted, new frost plugs installed, all rings file fitted, new piston oilers installed, ARP main studs, bearings and crank installed for checking main bearing clearances. Some how the little baggy with six piston pin circlips has gone missing so that’s going to be a show stopper until I can get more
I was reading through and I saw the talk of using e46 fenders to modify the body, I'd be interested to see how that looks when its done

Looks awesome!
This is a 2.8 right?
Yes, 3.2L, 87 mm 8.5:1 CP pistons, Eagle rods, S52 crank.
The block got hot tanked and media blasted. Not a speck of rust left on it anywhere. It was actually kind of pricey but the results were nice. No prep required before painting essentially.
The engine shop didn’t have the missing circlips so I’ve ordered some along with some fancy Vibra-Techniques engine mounts. I want this thing back in the car so bad and can’t wait to smell that fresh engine smell on first start up.

It wasn’t a dig at you personally, more of a dig at people that say they like the smooth, cough non existent cough, power band of NA or supercharger.
I’d rather go fast with some sadness than slowly. I have been spreading my sadness out over the past 14 years so the average is ok.

I’ve had NA engines window the block, I’ve had super chargers poop the bed and crack heads, a little ‘winter maintenance’ on the turbo engine does not make me sad knowing I’ll end up with even more power and that awesome smell of a fresh engine on the first start...... You smell that? Do you smell that?... That’s a fresh engine, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of a fresh engine starting in the early morning. The smell, you know that smell, the whole garage. Smells like... victory. Someday this car's gonna start...
