    Nope, FD's had cast fronts but the rear hub was aluminum, from what i remember when i did suspension and brakes on my brother in-laws .

    '86-'91 RX7 front hubs were aluminum.

    I finally pulled the tranny, swapped in a new twin disc, changed the heater hose at the back of the head and popped the transmission back in. I was going to install the modified stock drive shaft back in but with the expected extra power I thought maybe the DSS should stay. I installed the heat shields and rear exhaust before calling it a night.

    I really don't enjoy pulling the transmission in and out, laying on my back with the car on jack stands, especially that 6-speed but it's done.

    I'm actually going to leave the scavenge pump in for now. It would be nice to run without it but I want to make sure everything else is functioning first.

    I can't believe you don't have a lift. Much respect, you are way more motivated than me. Not sure what your garage is like, but I have been eyeing a maxjax pretty hard recently.

    Single car garage, no lift. I've looked into the Maxjax and I can only go up about 28" before the garage door opener hits the roof of the car so it's not worth it. At least the garage is brick so that I can grind and hammer and crank the tunes and it doesn't bother the neibours.

    You should look into the quickjack. I recently got one but have yet to use it

    Get rid of the door opener and go with the maxjax. Or punch a hole in your kitchen floor, rope it off with those velvet links like you see at the movie theaters and get a big boy lift.

    Brad, whats the max ceiling height you have in the garage?

    I cant put the car all the way up and open the door. I can get the wheels up about 4 ft with the door open, after that the door needs to be shut.

    Mine before I put the lift in. I want to do the other door just because I love the opener so much, it's silent compared to the horrible chain drive ones. But it's too expensive to justify two.

    Torsion spring is where its at. I have the similar set up but for a 16 ft door.

    I think my garage ceiling stringers are only about 7 ft high. Not much room for lifts or high garage doors.

    Some progress happened last night. 9180 is installed on the manifold, oil feed and coolant lines are connected, WG installed, exhaust is installed. Many more things to do before its done though....

    Turbo oil drain now hooked up. I'm leaving the scavenge pump in for now. It's actually less work for me to leave it in at this point.

    Next on my list was the fuel system. I had aluminum hard lines from the tank to the fuel filter cover and both of them sustained damage from who knows what so I pulled them out and made stainless hard lines. I also swapped in a new ethanol sensor and fuel filter.

    I could but it really depends on what other parts you have in your fuel system. It's best to fit the lines to the car they are being installed on. For example, here is a better shot of the lines installed on my car...




    Last night I also swapped in a new Walbro 485 fuel pump on the drivers side. The one that was in there was not e85 compatible. I also installed a new (used) sender hanger on the drivers side because the hose nipple had broken off when I was disassembling for fuel tank removal. And finally the back of the car, inside, is all back together....

    Just a heads up to anyone else running these lines, I initially built my car with the aluminum hard lines but their durability bothered me later and I removed them. I later wanted to show a friend what I used and I couldn't even find them. Then I realized that they no longer appeared in the fuel injection line search results because of failures. They are not rated for EFI fuel pressures, they're meant for carbureted cars. Add to that that ethanol is corrosive to aluminum.

    I wasn't concerned about the pressure capability of the aluminum since we are dealing with relatively low pressures (rated to 250 psi) but it was super soft, probably 1100 or 3003 aluminum. Very easy to work with but not acceptable due to how fragile it is and the e85 issue. Stainless hard lines are definitely the way to go, good for over 3000 psi.
