Planning for my next engine.
My M62 has ticked over 300000km and is going to be wanting new guides in about another 100000km or so.
So these are my choices...
I already know I'm going to go over each budget
Absinthe makes the tart grow fonder.
Is Reinz a good gasket to buy for the m62? They're utter shit for the m20 and they all leak oil within 6 months from the same place.
If your e30 runs bad, switch to Megasquirt first. Then try new spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires, oxygen sensor, crank shaft position sensor, coolant temp sensor, air flow meter, idle control valve, throttle position sensor, digital motor electronics unit, harmonic balancer, fuel injectors, engine harness...
I've always used Victor Reinz gaskets on every single M62 I've ever worked on— no problems with them as long as they're installed correctly.

I've heard they're THE gasket to use on m50s, so I know they can be good, that's why I asked. They're completely shunned by the e30 community for head gaskets.

I may not keep all of them for super long, but I do stay in touch with the current owners of those cars. The 2003 540i/6 M-Sport got sold to a guy in Chicago who kept it for a while— no new leaks even though it's been well over a year since I did the chain guides on it. The M5 is still good, that's owned by a local guy. I did the valve cover gaskets on that with Victor Reinz and they're holding up fine. The Range Rover is holding up nicely as well, about 5 months on the rebuilt engine with Victor Reinz gaskets. I still do some work on that for the current owner so I see it pretty often.
