the only differences are the pitman arms which are interchangeable ,Pitman arm D=30MM from 09/1989 32211137467 , before 09/1989 the pitman arm was D=28mm, up to 09/1989 32211134126
    http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_0335

But of course you can respect. you should also ask the seller (there is in every ebay offer the possibility: contact the seller) what diameter the gear shaft for the pitman arm has (28 or 30mm) and that you have a 12/89 E32 735i with pitman arm Pitman arm D=30M 32211137467.
That shop is specialized on gear boxes, they can consult you and may have the right one you need. http://stores.ebay.com/Car-Steering-...p2047675.l2563

So i should also buy a pitman arm 28mm? Just to be safe? My sister has to send it slowboat and takes 6 weeks to get here. So with that in mind should i also but a 28mm pitman arm? Bc as you stated my production date is 12/89 and most likely has a pitman arm of 30mm.

The link you sent me only shows a 30mm pitman arm for sale....i am also contacting that ebay seller as well

Contact the steering gear box maker/seller and tell them you want a steering box which fits to the 30mm pitman arm. If they do not have, wait and see, another one will come up, you are not in a hurry.
There is a certain reason that they changed the shaft in the steering gear box to a bigger diameter from 28mm to 30mm.

    Shogun, this was their response.....

I'm afraid we do not have those exact measurements available, and the part number 32211137467 does not match this gearbox or anything else we have available. Is this a US-market vehicle? If so, we can check the 17-digit VIN to check compatibility.

I will send them the part number considering i believe they thought it was the gearbox and not just the pitman arm

Tell them your VIN VIN WBAGB41030DA41911 , it is a EURO model, and according to realoem the part number for the steering gear is here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...BMW-735i&mg=32
I assume you have the version with servotronic(?), that would be then: 01 Rmfd hydro steering gear from 09/1989 to 04/1990 32131136825
    32131136825
Part Cross-reference 32131136825 Rmfd hydro steering gear From:07/17/1989 To:-Weight:13.080 kg
    Superseded by: 32131138565 (01/02/1990 — ), nonexchangeable retrospectively
    Supersedes: 32131134105 (08/25/1987 — ),
    Exchangeable retrospectively32131132922(12/01/1986 — 05/05/1988),
    Exchangeable retrospectively32131133265(05/01/1987 — 05/14/1987)
    Part 32131136825 was found on the following vehicles: 7' E32   (10/1985 — 03/1994)

As you can also see here, Johan made the same, also replaced the pitman arm, even switched to Servotronic and used a 750 steering gear box in his 735, which is basically the same, but has some additional heat shields http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/stee...placement.html

I just wanted to add a note on this thread that may help, My e32 (1988) had the Servotronic unit by-passed by plugging both wire fittings together. This proved that the Servotronic module (box/unit/whatever) had failed since the car returned to full power steering. I was able to find a good "blue box" for 40.00 and plugged it in. I now have full power steering at low speed and a nice solid bit of resistance when moving at a good clip. Again, I don't know if this will help anyone here but if you are having intermittent heavy steering at low speed and it comes and goes, you might try the by-pass above to rule out any mechanical/filter-clog issues. Regardless, start looking for the Servotronic units now as they are not easy to find from what I can tell. Also please remember that I'm a newbie here and I could be giving poor advice on the e32. I have much more experience with the ancient e9'sneeds paint n body.jpghigh water.jpg

I don't know if my car has that type of system or not. Mine is a 1990, I have to look at my door sticker I thought it was a very late 89, or a mid 90 I can't remember.
I noticed mine just started that, not too long ago. Seems like right after I put the synthetic transmission fluid in it??

. I should have stuck with standard transmission fluid unless that has nothing to do with it.

My steering feels a little heavy at slow speeds when turning slow. I'm still trying to gather what you actually did, because I'm not experienced with this system with bypassing it. I'm sure others will chime in on this. If there's a way around that I would sure like to do it. But we'll still change my filters.

Servotronic is basically all the same, just the servotronic module has changed in design and p/n, but function is basically the same. The older style Servotronic has the 2 yellow plugs on the cables which go into the servotronic module located behind the speaker kickpanel driver side. When disconnecting the 2 plugs and plugging them directly together (without the servotronic module), then the servotronic runs always at full support. That shows then that the module might be defective, if it works that way.
This is the newer version http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/elec...s/modules.html
    older version http://bmwe32.masscom.net/johan/elec...footwells.html
on my website there is a repair of the older version servotronic module.

Crap, I was hoping because I put that synthetic in, is what cause mine to feel heavy at low speeds turns when cold, it happened right after I added that. After you pick up some speed the steering is,fine

I'm going to change my return line and reservoir then try to figure this out then. I'm confused. I'm terrible with electronic stuff.

Not sure which version I have

How about this one, which would fit based on the number given there? http://www.buyautoparts.com/buynow/1...l?xref=2353477
    OEM Cross Reference 32131136825, 32131138273, 32131138565, 32131469271, 8054991119, Vehicles this Part Fits : 1990 BMW 735 Power Steering - All Models, 1990-1992 BMW 735 Power Steering - All Models
Part Number: 82-00343 R, 1990 BMW 735 Power Steering Gear Box ,Type: Remanufactured, Fits: Power Steering - All Models, (list price $447.83), now $309.00, + Core Deposit $150.00

As you do not have a core to return to them, you have to pay 309.00 + 150.00. Or buy a cheap used one as core for less and ship it to them as core. Note that this is a remanufactured one, who remanufactured it, I do not know, but probably not the maker ZF, otherwise it would be more much expensive.

your production date based on VIN is 1989-12-14

Based on the VIN the number is for a replacement Rmfd hydro steering gear 32131136825 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_1899
This is not the original number, this is the number for a reman replacement unit. And that is the latest number, which has been replaced several times already
32131136825 Rmfd hydro steering gear From:07/17/1989 To:-
    Superseded by:
    32131138565 (01/02/1990 — ), nonexchangeable retrospectively
    Supersedes:
    32131134105(08/25/1987 — ), Exchangeable retrospectively 32131132922 (12/01/1986 — 05/05/1988), Exchangeable retrospectively32131133265(05/01/1987 — 05/14/1987)
and when you click on these numbers, there come more replacement numbers http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...&q=32131136825

So if you are still not 100% sure, contact the seller(s) with your VIN and ask them to confirm that their offered power steering gear fits to your VIN, then you are 100% sure in case of a claim.
Basically they are all interchangeable, the ones for the 750 only have some additional holes for additional heat protection shields, and the other difference is the diameter of the shaft for the pitman arm, and this can be solved by a pitman arm which fits, 28 or 30mm.
I checked once more for the number you mentioned above:

Your VIN is DA41911 , production date 1989-12-14, based on realoem you power steering pump is AT-VANE PUMP ZF up to 08/1990 32411130556 for cars without LAD/SLS self levelling
now you copy that number and google , http://www.bmwbuddy.com/z/part/32411...ring-pump-735i

Before you order, double check on your existing pump of it is LUK brand or ZF, I assume ZF. There is a name tag on the pump with serial no. etc
Then you have the option to buy a reman one from A1 Cardone, or a reman/rebuilt one by ZF, see price differences http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/199...ring_pump.html

    Shogun,

Im in the shop now and they can seem to locate the steering pump serial number. Do they have to remove the pump to get at it??? I have my service manual and it says nothing about the location of the part number.

    Thanks

There IS a tag on the power steering pump with the type and the maker and the serial number, I just checked one of my spare pumps, and found the tag with ZF etc at the bottom, half covered by the bracket, in addition the pump housing has in the cast ZF marks.
Of course they first have to clean the pump and then search for the tag or mark carefully.
ZF has blue tags, LuK has yellow tags http://www.ebay.com/itm/Power-Steeri...hNhAkw&vxp=mtr
Even if the tag is gone, the cast housing has the ZF, see here, even the A1 Cardone reman pump has the ZF in the casting http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reman-Power-...pYmMxi&vxp=mtr
If they find nothing, post some pics, maybe a 735 owner can help you.

    I am guessing its "ZF".

I cropped it to get a closer look. Is the blue sticker what I should be looking at?

    ForumRunner_20170325_153007.png

Is so what pump should I order. Could you put a link of the exact one to purchase. Thanks Shogun. You're the man. One day I want to pay for a trip for you to come to the Philippines and show you around. To show my appreciation.

Yes, it is a ZF pump. As you have an E32 735i without LAD/SLS, you just order a power steering pump fitting to your VIN is DA41911 , production date 1989-12-14, based on realoem you power steering pump is AT-VANE PUMP ZF up to 08/1990 32411130556 for cars without LAD/SLS self levelling http://www.bmwbuddy.com/z/part/32411...ring-pump-735i
now is the question what you want, reman by ZF or Bosch is most expensive, but probably top quality. then other reman ones much cheaper, around $100
    FCP has some options https://www.fcpeuro.com/BMW-parts/73...86&m=20&page=1
select one of them saying w/o self levelling, and then compare always when you click for details on the pumps, OE Numbers 32411130556, 32411466167, OE Number 32411130556 comparable is what you need.
    At-vane pump 1130556 32 41 1 130 556 ZF
    Production Jun '86 -
    Bilaterally exchangeable
    Old partnumber 32 41 1 466 167
    New partnumber 32 41 1 131 239
all the bold marked will fit http://bmwfans.info/parts-catalog/32411130556
rockauto has a lot reman by various companies http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/b...ring+pump,7380

I would buy a reman one, power steering pumps are not rocket science. Maybe someone has a better source.

ZF numbers, BMW numbers, gear numbers, exchangable against LUK etc, just for info http://www.unofficialbmw.com/images/steering-flush.pdf
These numbers are old and might be different now, just for reference

One day I want to pay for a trip for you to come to the Philippines and show you around. To show my appreciation.
My wife is leaving Wednesday for the Phils, but to Zamboanga City on Mindanao. We have a volunteer project going onthere, kindergarden, farm project etc.

Ok two things. Im going to purchase the first pump in the first link you sent.

Second, after reattached the pump the noise stopped, during the turns. Only when you fully turn to right or left. Not nearly what it was. So, on that note, im considering a full flush. The funny thing is the final link you sent me on instructions to flush the pump is from my hometown in Illinois. crazy!

Lastly, I hope one day you could come down to the Philippines and even if only for a few days I would love to treat you around here. Im not a rich man, but I would be honored to thank you for all you have done, not just for me, but the whole community of e32 lovers. Thanks, Vincent

P.S. Pls tell you wife to be extra careful in Zamboanga City. It is extremely dangerous for foreigners including myself and I'll lived here 10 years now and have never and will never go there because of safety concerns. I hope your wife travels with security everywhere. Pls, stay safe. Godspeed

The part numbers don't match up when I clicked the link, but the only ZF pump was this.

Should I just buy it? Nothing else matched up.

Plus I'm going to go back and my shop and ask for another good flushing considering the noise has drop-off quite a bit since they took the part off the check the number. Pretty cool to be honest.

I bet you will not need a new pump after they flushed the system, also the filter you have to change or at least clean it. Helps also to reduce noise. The shop can wash it , not sure which steering fluid container you have, one of these, and you can see, most of them have an exchangeable filter, but washing out with parts cleaner will do, as they will not have such a filter available on stock in the Phils http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...BMW-735i&mg=32
But if you want to order a pump to have spare, on the rockauto site the first one should fit:
A-1 CARDONE 215664 , with ZF Pump; without Self Leveling Device
    and this
ACDELCO 36P0378 {#19318904} Reman; Professional , ZF Pump w/o Leveling Device
The pics there are not the real ones, as mentioned on the pics: "product appearance may vary but fit and function remain the same."

The one you posted with A1 Cardone and part-number 1104-09002681 I cannot find online. Which shop? But it says for ZF pump, without self levelling, so if there is also mentioned BMW E32 735, that should also do.
