It looks like i need to buy a new POWER STEERING PUMP. I have looked on Autozone and realoem.com. I am not looking for an original oem part, but I am looking for a high quality aftermarket part. Any help would be great. I want to keep this cat forever and want a top end aftermarket part. Ideas? Thanks
What is the reason you need a new power steering pump? Leaks? I have a new seal set on stock, can send that over to Cebu from Japan.
FCP has remanufactured pumps https://www.fcpeuro.com/BMW-parts/73...86&m=20&page=1
also check rockauto , they have a lot of reman parts and probably also power steering pumps. Basically the pump lasts very long. The main shaft seal has to be replaced, some o-rings and the profile rings inside the pump. Have already repaired a lot this methid. My kit fits your pump from ZF with a shaft diameter of 19mm and is for single pumps as well as tandem pumps (in case the car has LAD)

Hey Shogun.. it appears my leak is coming from the steering pump filter housing.. the site won't let me post up a pic. My mechanic said somebody JB welded it shut and he can't access.. he recommend I replace the the filter housing. Any suggestions, part number? Thank you
Is there any way I can send you pic??

Just upload a pic on a free upload and post the link here. You can also upload the picture on the forum. Try first the testing forum.
When you reply, click on the right side "go advanced" and then you have the option to upload a picture.

I may have to do this as wel...replaced PS reservoir, worked great initially but soon after, clunk clunk clunk returned with stiff power steering and squealing.
Remember there is a filter inside the power steering reservoir and a small, but very important mesh filter at the bottom of the power steering gear on top of the Servotronic Control Unit; Torque Converter, not shown in realoem
see my website, fixes>>>steering>
Steering has become heavy at low speeds
Steering is intermittently heavy at low speeds (servotronic electronic unit has failed?)
the power steering bump rebuoild is on my website under fixes >>hydraulics

There are 4 bolts holding the torque r# 18, 2 short ones, 2 long ones, the 2 long one hold the unit http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_1899
when you remove the torque converter from the steering gear bottom, you need a oil catch pan, as all Pentosin will flow out.
I do not know how the PS fluid container looks at your car, on my 750 11/88 it looks like this, there you can see the filter http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_0623

I finally figured it out, Here it is..somebody appeared to have JB welded it closed.. was wondering what this housing name is #s10-13 on system diagram

That is additional filter, not all E32 have , it is for E32 with ASC+T, unfortunately only available as complete item
11 Oil filter 1 34511159665 $314.22
maybe you first get a new o-ring and change that one
13 O-ring 40X3 1 34511159421 $3.07
14 FILTER CARTRIDGE 1 34511159666 $62.30 https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/34511159666/
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_1917
filter cartridge is also very expensive, you can try to clean it with brake cleaner, did that once.

Shogun,
I went to the BMW DEALERSHIP here in the Philippines and they wanted over 3,000 dollars for a new pump (exchange hydro steering gear). They did not know whether my car is German or Japanese made. Can you help? They deleted the part numbers so i couldn't research for myself. I don't know if my car is self leveling or not. Can you help me pls. There are no leaks. Should I just have the dealership flush the liquid and check the filter before I buy this pump from America? And could you help me find the part number so I know what to buy? Thanks Shogun!

If there is no leak, no need to buy a pump now, but if you want, there are used ones, reman ones by other companies and AT ones from BMW = reman by ZF.
Copy the VIN decoded details, in case your dealer next time has a question. They always can check for the numbers here www.realoem.com

I got the part number.... 32131139745. Could you help me located a place to buy? Realoem.com is expensive.
There was no leak, but the linkage connection was loose to the steering pump. That is what is causing the noise.
That number is ended and is not a pump but a Rmfd hydro steering gear 09/1989 32131139745 , in case you need a gear, you need Rmfd hydro steering gear from 09/1989 32131139747 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_0268
So what do you need? power steering pump or steering gear?
Both are in my opinion waste of money to store them now, just for the case that you need them many years later.
If the pump needs seals, there are seal sets, if the steering gear leaks, there are seal kits. It is not advisable to store now for many years.
If other things fail, then buy a remanufactured one and send the damaged one back to the selling co. as core.

Ah ow!! I'm going to be replacing my return line soon. While I have my reservoir off, I better see about these filters. I am sure mine have never been changed.
Sounds like the filter in the reservoir might not be hard to find. But the mesh one your talking about. Does the pump have to come apart to replace it?
Not trying to thread jack. But starting a whole new thread seemed stupid when it can all be done in one.

Ohhh if it's that cheap. I'll be more than happy to buy the new reservoir! Thank you. Especially with the filter coming with it. I'll order it with my new return hose.
I dunno where my mesh one would be?
Also...how did you get your fluid out....without a huge mess?? Lol
no, as I said, the mesh filter is at the bottom of the power steering gear on top of the Servotronic Control Unit, you have to remove the servotronic control unit at the bottom of the STEERING GEAR, it has 4 bolts in total, 2 long ones hold it at the steering gear, when you remove this control unit, all power steering fluid will come out of the steering box. See my website, there are pics. fixes>>steering

Ohhhh I was, thinking on the pump. It's on the steering box. I see on your website now what you were talking about.
Looks like what is,on my sink faucet. My steering is a tiny bit heavy since I poured that synthetic tranny fluid in. Probably cleaned stuff up and clogged my screen. But only at very slow, speed so nothing to complain about.
Can this be done with the steering box on the car?
I don't know how much room there is.
I am going to get that apart this week then. I want to replace my return hose. Might as well try and get that screen out and clean it.
I'm just going to refill the system with old fashioned Dex3 this, time

yes, of course. Have a look here which 2 bolts you have to remove and which tool you need, star https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...t/32411134770/
this is the small filter https://c1552172.ssl.cf0.rackcdn.com/296405_x800.jpg

we need a power steering dedicated thread pinned uptop haha.
I used a turkey baster, sucked out as much fluid out of the reservoir as I could, undid the lines (one of them was a bitch to get off), some spilled of course, but not a huge deal. fitted new reservoir, added synthetic ATF fluid, turned steering wheel from side to side maximum amount a few times, and my "clunk clunk" went away. However, it is back now.....no loss in PS fluid level so I'm chasing other demons now it seems. Joys of E32 ownership.
I do not know where this power steering gear or servotronic module is.
Shogun, would this part work?

So if you need a power steering gear box for your E32 735i (and not a power steering pump, as mentioned before), it will fit. But a bit pricey with US $105.99 for a used 1988 steering gear box, you can get a fully reman steering gear box here for:
List price: $449.63 What does this price mean? You save: $156.46 (34% off) Now:US $293.17 Remanufactured-OEM-Genuine-Power-Steering-Gear-Box-Gearbox-Fits-BMW-735-750
