This issue has been around for over a year now. First it was a bad actuator gear which i replaced, and now it seems like the clutches on the TC are blown. I tested this by removing the TC actuator and trying to turn the actuator spline by hand, which is very easy to do(it still does spring back to the "start" position, but everything I've found and learned tells me I should NOT be able to turn that shaft by hand).
I've spent the last 2 weeks trying to get DIS running and just can't. I was able to get it to connect to the car but the DIS version would not communicate to the ECU.
So this leads me to my question:
If I get a TC, which I know I can replace myself, can I then drive the car to a shop nearby to have the adaptations reset? Or will this damage the new TC? I would like to avoid extra costs of a tow or to have a shop do the entire job. I was even thinking of unplugging the actuator on the drive over so that the DSC system is disabled. Get to the shop, plug the actuator in and have them reset adaptations. Do you see anything wrong with that method?
Any input would be appreciated, thanks in advance!
Hey chugs - I don't want to give you wrong advice and have you spend extra money on the repair, but check out the tech article link below on TC servo motor replacing, which may give you some good additional info when replacing it - post a Comment just below the article and someone will get back to you with more detailed info on the second half of your question. Best of luck!
