I have a 1997 bmw 328is and looking to put some wheels on it. I believe I want to go with 18 inch. Is this size ok with coilovers eventually being installed or should I go with 17 inch. The car has 16 inch from the factory. Thanks
Unless you're putting bigger rotors on, I'd stick with the 16s or 17 max. I prefer smaller diameter wheels for performance reasons and I just think they feel better. I cars with 18, 17, and 16 inch wheels and although diameter isn't the only factor, I don't like the 18's as much as 16s. I can't imagine what those boat anchor 20 inch wheels are like.
You can get lighter weight wheels in the 18" so they don't have to be heavier. The ride will be stiffer and they will be more susceptible to damage from potholes. We have wheels that will fit the car in all the sizes. The performance tires are going away in the 16" sizes so you may want to look at the 17" and 18". If I can help let me know.
