Starting off, I haven't seen any info on this setup before and decided to post my experience with these wheels.
Based on the current M4 GTS wheels that I've see, maybe influenced me to get a set of some that look similar.
My car is a 2003 M5 Carbon Black - lowered on B&G springs with stock shocks and everything else stock. Springs lowered the car about 1.2" front and 1" rear.
1. These are by no means expensive wheels, just a basic set of 19" wheels that I got from the guys at ASpec wheels in CA. They hooked me up with a fair deal on a set bored out to fit the E39 hub.
2. Rims are Aodhan LS001 19x8.5 ET15 front and 19x9.5 ET15 in the rear. Concave more for the rears than the fronts. Work with stock lug nuts, and the stock lug nut key fits in the holes.
Rims are not too heavy, look well made and the finish is great, no complaints.
Over time will have to see how they hold up to potholes, traintracks etc. hope they are strong enough to withstand everyday use, even tho the car is not driven a lot.
3. For tires, this I know people will agree and disagree, but I went with 235/35ZR19 front and 275/30ZR19 rear.
I just had 2 Michelin Super Sports in like new condition laying around in the 235/35ZR19 size and decided to use them.
The 2 rear Continental ExtremeContact DW's 275/30ZR19 were on sale at TireRack for about $250 fot the pair delivered, so not a bad deal either.
Review:
In the current size, I think the rims are a great if not perfect fit for the E39's, pretty flush with the fenders, no rubbing with the tire sizes I went, lowered and not rubbing.
The design of the wheel is complex and because I think the E39 is pretty simple in design with no crazy lines, it compliments the body.
I did not go for a crazy color, just the simple polished front with black insides.
I am a fan of the wheels.
Hopefully the pics and info will help others to determine the wheel choice.

How do you like the continental tires in comparison to the Michelin so far?

I think they are great. Quiet, wet traction is good and no complaints. For the deal I got on them from TireRack it's hard to be picky.
This looks very nice, nice wheels,
but maaaan, you gonna hate washing those spokes lol

Your current situation is not your final destination
I think it looks good. Especially the picture shot from the rear, driver side.
For Brandon at VMR, he was very helpful when I got my wheels from them. Looks good on the car, makes me interested in picking up another set for mine.
