Might not generate if you are using the bimmer forums app. But it loads right up on my computer.

i suggest sticking with your thread as it'll be easier to consolidate information and point everyone to one spot rather than spreading it out across multiple threads - especially on a 4 year old thread that might not be relevant as this thread was never resolved.

for those looking to help - majormotorhead's thread is here: https://www.bimmerforums.com/forum/s...se-in-5th-gear

I sold the car a year and a half ago. I ended up changing to a Swepco gear oil in the transmission, and it helped some, but there noise never went away completely. I also never got the chance to put it on the lift and investigate, sorry.

Having the same issue here 😂. I replaced my clutch a while back never had the noise. As soon as I put a new shifter and solid trans mounts I start getting the noise. I will try and put the old mounts back in and see if it makes any difference! Will update as soon as I get it done.

Might want to check whether you put the shift rod in from the wrong direction or backwards. It might be hitting the guibo. (flex disc).

Solid trans mounts? Mind if I ask why? Full race car? This isn't a convertible is it?
