    New owner 2003 M3

    Hi All,

I am the proud new owner of a 2003 M3 convertible in topaz blue. Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello. I do love the car and am getting to grips with the SMG box.

One thing I am struggling to work out is how to connect my phone to the unit? Car has Bluetooth, I have the card with the code but cannot for the life of me work out how to set into pairing. I have tried holding the button on the steering wheel and starting it etc, there is no button by the handbrake just cup holders.
The display just stays on Activate Phone but nothing happens and my phone doesn't find the car....

Can pairing be activated via INPA - if so, does anyone have the steps to do this?

    Many thanks

    Vimal

    Hello Vimal,
I have a 2002 m3 convertible. Mine did not have bluetooth and has an aftermarket mediabridge. I used to have a 2004 x5 and believe I was able to figure out how to pair the x5 through youtube. It took a bit to find the how to video but it's there. Best of luck and keep us updated!

    Hi Aaron
Thank you for your reply. I have indeed looked at the various you tube suggestions etc but there is nothing about how you switch on discovery mode using INPA which is what I am specifically after.
    Thanks

    veeonfire,

I hate to be the bringer of bad news, but if you don't have the button in the center console, it's difficult to connect it. You can try tricking the system into thinking there's a button, but you'll need to set a jumper between two pins that connect to the button in the pins in the center console. The button on the steering wheel doesn't connect to the bluetooth system, so it won't try and pair if you press and hold it. Also, do you have the OEM navigation or business CD? If you have the Navigation, it's said that you can connect your bluetooth for the first two minutes after you turn your car on. I don't know if this works or not as I have the business CD and it does not work for me. I wish you good luck on this.

So you could go look for the tcm module in the trunk to really make sure to start it's there. Then I have only paired phones thru the buttons on the radio. BMW did produce paring videos, look on line
