Hi guys I am new to the forum, I'm 16 years old and I have finally saved up enough money to buy my rims and tires. I have just found the rims I want for my car (2013 BMW 328iX) they are Rotiform BLQ R112 Matte Black 19x8.5 5x120 ET 35. I can't figure out what wheels to buy with them. I want year around tires suitable for Georgia. If you guys could give me suggestions and measurements that would be great thanks!!
Think you meant "tires".
Use the tirerack.com website to choose tires. You can search by wheel diameter (19") and various other parameters. Probably want at least 225 width, maybe 245. I would plug in your car, then specify 19" size when it asks for optional diameters.
^Tirerack is great for this, you can sift through performance categories, ratings, etc, and they help you figure out the correct size. For a 19x8.5 (I dig those Rotiforms, we'll need pictures young buck) on an F30 I'd want the common 225/40/19 size, and in Georgia I would go for a high performance summer like the Michelin PSS.
Don't be that guy that cheaps out on tires when they are the single component of your car that touches the ground
Hey pauls328i,
I just put Michelin Pilot SS on my car and they ride super smooth. I really don't recommend run-flats, but the only issue with summer tires is that they aren't always great in snow. Just go onto tirerack.com and look into rating for the car in the weather you need. I still stand by the Super Sports and now they might be going down in price because of the release of the 4s.
Like buying a car, you are going to need to answer some questions regarding options.
1. What is your budget for a set?
2. How hard do you want to push that car? Are you playing with the limits of grip when safe to do so?
3. How long do you want/expect these tires to last, this and the above question are directly related. Basically, you trade grip for lifespan. So find a good compromise. Tires that grip like glue will wear like a pencil eraser. Tires that last 40-50K, those will grip like a Big Wheel.
