Do all the 2000 750 come with sport suspension ? where can i get that info with the vin# wbagj0348ydd73849
i think he basically means do they all come with EDC, and IIRC they do ?
Again.... replace fluids and fuel pump... If not you'll only introduce debris into the engine. Fuel pumps are relatively inexpensive and can be found for under 100and as low as 50 on eBay. Fuel tank prep from autozone etc.And go buy a can of maf cleaner & throttle body cleaner..Brake cleaner to check for leaks...read the forums in how to check.
After check brakes tires and steering.... get home safely.

it could be a diamond in the rough ha
Wow, never seen everything in the engine bay rusted like that.
I've seen that all the time, even my E39 has the shock tower bolts with surface rust.
Doesn't look too bad, just look at the undercarriage and check out the rust. If it's minimal, go ahead and pay $1500. New bumper and a wash will turn it around for sure.

cmon bro A new bumper and a wash ? he's being a little too light here IMO.
it's been sitting three years outside on dirt it looks like, that absolutely had some effect on the under carriage. you will need calipers for sure at the least...
I think XAlt was referring to what we can see on the car, not undercarriage.
It may need calipers and break lines. The last restoration I did on a 5 series needed calipers and some lines and alot cleaning.
Where can I get a a front bumper and windshield? Can parts from 740s go on 750s?

The 750 is almost impossible to find, and those that I find on Craigslist are not that great but the asking prices are way up there...$7000+ Why is that?
Looks like a money pit! Better off spending the money on one that was driven and is up to par. They are out there...
E38 is a 8-10 grand car, pay now or pay later. The entire suspension could be trashed, it could be the BP oil spill, it simply does not matter as long as the body and interior is nice.
All you're doing by parting this car out is taking another facelift V12 off the road.

He lowered the price down to $1000. Is that reasonable
Am trying to get it for $800
don't pay any more than 800.
@masu3701
You have to determine for yourself how much money you are willing to invest. There are several factors you need to address. First, how much are you willing to pay to get the car to running condition? Next, how much work are you personally going to do vs. a shop? Are you willing to invest in tools and equipment if you chose to do your own repairs? Individually tools are not expensive, however, you will amass a lot. Also, once the car is running, how much are you willing to pay for upkeep? Due to the age of the car something will fail that will require your attention. Eventually money will become the issue. I have faced these issues and a few more.
I don't see my 740 as a money pit. The price for parts are not that bad. I do my own repairs, so no labor fees. I think the total amount I've paid in parts almost equals what I paid for the car. I still need/want to replace the front and rear suspension and shocks & struts. I'm sending my Bosch ABS unit out this weekend for remanufacturing. I need to see if I can fix the auxiliary water pump. I have been doing oil changes but now I need to drop the oil pan to see if there are any bits that don't belong. I will drain, change filter, and fill the transmission fluid.
As you can see, the work doesn't end. For me it's like having a puppy; Always needs attention, but damn rewarding.

2002 Mercedes ML500
1999 BMW 740iL
Thats right..when i had my 01 740il i did alot work myself including suspension, gaskets, trouble codes, etc..nothing heavy such as dropping engine and tranny. I do have the tools for basic jobs.
Its just that i never owned a 750 nor ever restored one thats been sitting. Thats why i came to the board to find out what it may involve.
It won't be much different from the V8, just less engine work overall and more work elsewhere (interior bits, suspension if you decide to keep it factory). If you change the trans fluid and filter, you won't have a problem with that either.
Even $1000 will let you make a profit parting the car out if it turns very sour.
