While trying to loosen the clutch fan bolt using a long screw driver to hold it from rotating, the plastic pulley and the it bolts broken. Now the pulley is off in pieces.
Is there a trick to remove this fan bolt in this case?
Thanks

Upade:
was able to undo the exhausts from the under the car and removed the from timing cover. Oh boy..this engine is full of junks, so tick it looks like melted black plastic. Removed all the head bolts on one side and only 1 is broken. Some of them are very dry and 3 or 4 were socked in oil.
That at one head is free to come out..can move it from the front but it's extremely hard to pull up. Requires a lot force.
This engine looks like it will need a lot.
What are you guys buying for spark plugs? the bmw are 17$ vs NGK 8$ on FCP Auro

NGK,exact same part, without the BMW logo.
What other parts should I replace while the engine is apart ?
coils, plugs, wires, OSV+CCV, vac hoses on both sides of intake that connect to back, assuming those are for the OSV+CCV, distributor caps/rotors
After digging into this engine full of gunk and debris, broken head bolts etc, I came across a used motor out of a 2000 750 for $700 with 110k.
Now the plan is to pull out the engine am working on rebuilding and put in the used one, then will continue to rebuild the other slowly as I get money and time.
Whats the complexity of swapping engine? I don't have a lift.
i just paid close to 2k to replace engine on my e60 n54b30 ... had a rod knocking
used engine was from 335 ...slightly different , one of the turbos had to be swapped , some oil lines , coolant lines and oil pan
on top of that i got new water pump , thermostat , rear main seal , oil filter gasket , oil pan gasket , valve cover gasket , spark plugs
just various part came up to around 450 , water pump , thermostat and coil plugs i got of my old engine - only 5k miles
Yea the $1000 is just removing old one and i stalling new one..i will have to provide de parts i want to change such as water pump, stat, rear main seal and whatever i want to replace.
For now the plan is to replace rear main seal, water pump/stat, spark plugs then once i confirm engine runs strong i will work on replacing the rest as i go
Engine coming out of the car tomorrow...
Rear main seal, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, water pump are all being delivered tomorrow morning and will be ready to go on right away.
Couldnt get the crank pulley bolt until wednesday next week. Can the old one be reused or a new one is a most?
New engine installed Yesturday. Run good. Coolant temp still on the high side (113C), but temp gauge stays at 12 o'clock. May have to bleed it more.
In addition to the coolant temp, am chasing a new issue with the brake. The pedal is very hard, have to floor it and fight with it to stop. Seem like i lost the pressure.
Where to look. Is there a vacuum line going to it that I may have miss?
I have no power to the DSC pre charge pump.
