How do i put engine at TDC? I dont see the mark on the flywheel. Only 3 holes that are togther and another one far away. I see a mark on the block but now on the wheel.

I was able to place the lock tool flat but not sure if am at tdc.

While trying to loosen the clutch fan bolt using a long screw driver to hold it from rotating, the plastic pulley and the it bolts broken. Now the pulley is off in pieces.
Is there a trick to remove this fan bolt in this case?
    Thanks

    Upade:
was able to undo the exhausts from the under the car and removed the from timing cover. Oh boy..this engine is full of junks, so tick it looks like melted black plastic. Removed all the head bolts on one side and only 1 is broken. Some of them are very dry and 3 or 4 were socked in oil.

That at one head is free to come out..can move it from the front but it's extremely hard to pull up. Requires a lot force.
This engine looks like it will need a lot.

The little OSV tubes and cooling system based on what you see. Remember, $8 renzosil gets the job done on the intake gaskets.

coils, plugs, wires, OSV+CCV, vac hoses on both sides of intake that connect to back, assuming those are for the OSV+CCV, distributor caps/rotors

After digging into this engine full of gunk and debris, broken head bolts etc, I came across a used motor out of a 2000 750 for $700 with 110k.
Now the plan is to pull out the engine am working on rebuilding and put in the used one, then will continue to rebuild the other slowly as I get money and time.

Whats the complexity of swapping engine? I don't have a lift.

Should just drop down out of the subframe. Get somebody with a lift to take care of it.

If you get the M73N for so cheap, just clean it up real nice, seal up the intakes, and use the other for spares.

Whats a reasonable price to have someone with a lift install it?

I'd get some quotes, and we'll see who has the best. Really depends on the market. While you wait, clean up the new engine.

When I called around, the cheap side was $1000 to just drop and swap nothing else.

Was thinking about just replacing the rear main seal and water pump while engine is out, then will deal with the other stuff once I can confirm that engine runs fine.

    1k sounds decent.

They'll remount the trans, so you can go ahead and inspect it while it's out.

Engine coming out of the car tomorrow...
Rear main seal, valve cover gaskets, spark plugs, water pump are all being delivered tomorrow morning and will be ready to go on right away.

Couldnt get the crank pulley bolt until wednesday next week. Can the old one be reused or a new one is a most?

New engine installed Yesturday. Run good. Coolant temp still on the high side (113C), but temp gauge stays at 12 o'clock. May have to bleed it more.

In addition to the coolant temp, am chasing a new issue with the brake. The pedal is very hard, have to floor it and fight with it to stop. Seem like i lost the pressure.
Where to look. Is there a vacuum line going to it that I may have miss?
