Adding Aux Input

I have a 2003 BMW Z4 Roadster 3.0i with. The premium 10-speaker stereo with navigation. I bought a cheap Aux In cable on eBay and connected it to the back of the stereo. I had to unplug something from the Aux port but I'm not sure what it was. My navigation and my iPod dock in the glove box both still work so I'm not sure what the heck I unplugged. I'm wondering if maybe that was the connection for the CD Changer which I don't even have. Any thoughts??

The Aux In only half works. I only get sound from the right side speakers. I'm guessing it is because it is a knockoff, not BMW OEM. So I ordered the BMW ashtray replacement Aux Input adapter for $85. Hopefully this will fix my issue. Any input you guys/gals might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Your z4 radio is the same as our x3.
When we installed our aux there was also already a plug there. I transferred the pins to the OEM plug so everything is connected. Yes, I think it was the cd changer connections you unplugged. Also, it sounds like, 1 of the three pins in the knockoff isn't seated correctly and thus makes no contact. I got my factory aux cables from BMW San Fran on Amazon for $30-$35.
