Hey all , just bought nice 01 525It wagon. https://westernmass.craigslist.org/c...535561429.html. Will need few things to be done but i hope nothing major. Still doling research on rear air suspensions but quick question , can rear be converted into conventional shuck/strut system?
geargrinder in 3... 2... 1...
Mt 528 wagon came with springs and shocks in the rear from the factory.

hey GermanRule...nice find !! that car looks sharp...!! I hope it turns out to be a good solid ride for you.
Regarding ditching the rear air suspension for shocks/springs....
yeah, you're gonna get folks on both sides of that fence replying. I could see swapping it over if you are going the way of coil-overs or something of that sort. BUT...!!.....if you are contemplating the change-over to skirt an inoperative air suspension system, then I respectfully recommend tracing down the issues with the air suspension and getting it working correctly. There are quite a few of us that have spent a good bit of time getting to know the system pretty intimately and can help you out. I think I can speak for the forum and say that we're more than happy to help you work through it. (if that is the concern...)
FWIW - I would NEVER trade the rear air ride in my car for standard shocks/springs. It's too good of a system and works way to well to remove it. Nothing like loading 4 people and all their gear and having the car keep it's composure via the air springs.
Again...your car....your world...but do let us know where you are headed with that one...
welcome to the touring club

So I will throw this one in the ring.... GD50118. It is a 2001 Electric Red over Sand Beige Leatherette 525iT 5 speed. I helped my mother pick it up a few weeks ago form a very nice couple in Long Island. They had bought the car CPO in 2004 and had it ever since. Right now the car has 128K miles--a real baby!

The next question that comes to mind is how many are still on the road today?

Hey folks,
I'm new to bf.c and E39 Touring ownership. I am proud to say that I acquired @adm750's 03 525iT M Sport Individual car so I guess I can say I'm in the "mini m sport" club. Unfortunately, the rust is insanely bad on the car and I won't be using it. I'm instead using it as a donor car to for my other touring. The cinnamon interior + black headliner + black carpet + black trunk bits (even a cargo cover) + M bumpers (front and rear) + LCI headlights/tail lights = the perfect donor car to build onto my (very) clean 2000 528iT in alpine white with 207k miles.
Hopefully I'll figure out a way to swap over the Euro goodies (rear fogs, power folding mirrors, etc).
I'll make an intro thread soon!
Hey Stephen !!
Been meaning to reach out to you and see how things were going. Yeah, the rust totally sucks....made me want to cry every time I laid eyes on it. Your Alpine car is a really sweet machine and I'm looking forward to the transformation using the parts from mine. Sad that this is the end of the line for my sweet Carbon hue'd Frau Christine, but hopefully all of her parts serve you well.
take care my friend !!

2000 540it, UK spec with sunroof delete. It is a RHD 540it and is registered, insured and legal in the States. DennisCooper has a very nice example of one, but I can only find one other RHD 540it for sale worldwide so I would assume its on the rarer side of the spectrum
G’day from Oz
I’ve been a member of bf for a few years now because of the wealth of information there is for maintaining and working on my bimmers over the years. This is my first post to a thread so I’m a bit of a noob there.
Anyway about a year ago I came across and bought a 2002 530i M sports wagon in Imola Red. I immediately started doing some research and soon found out that it seems to be a very rare car not just in Australia but the world is especially as mine is a right hand drive. That’s when I came across AquilaBMW and his Imola red wagon on Pinterest and bf(my question to you Aquila is how are you traveling towards you S62 swap?) I to have plans the convert this beautiful looking car into a very rare Imola Red M5 Estate in the near future. Currently my son is driving her. The only other thing I know about her history is it was brought into Oz by BMW Australia for promotional purposes in 2002. I can’t find any info on how many of these were built I do remember seeing a thread somewhere.
So there you go I saw this thread and wagon register and thought I’d share. Vin Info to follow
