I did some interior work. I mounted gauges and instrument cluster. Also run the power cable from the trunk to the engine bay.

Battery box is just temporary until i fabricate rear strut bar with dedicated battery mount.

I got my TB cable yesterday. It is a universal 36" cable that I got from amazon.

TB cable mounted in the original spot. Also my 1/0 gauge power cable below

M50 TB with its original cable bracket.

Also some kind of volvo upper radiator mount.

Pep Boys special fuse box for the extra circuits required for MS2

And some random IC piping pictures

    Driver side

    Passenger side

Just want to say keep up the good work. I'm in the process of putting together a low mount Mosselman setup for my e30 m42 and it's nice to see a build thread that still has pics.

    Thank you.

I know ..!! That photobucket BS. I am using that thread as a data dump for now. I host pictures using tapatalk i hope they will keep the service free.
Eventually i might build a site with couple of key DIYs. I also have all the pics backed up in couple places.

It totally sucks what happened to the Ski's thread. I cant imaging going back thru 300 pages and re-hosting all pictures.

Yep. I've got threads all over various forums for the past 10 years or so and they are all trashed now. I don't have the time or at least willing to devote time to fixing them. To the toilet they go unfortunately.

Do you still have the m42 radiator? Looking to get a new one and realized you swapped out to the aluminum one.

    M10T in 6 weeks on a budget

    Couple things happened this week

I fabbed up bracket for the clutch lines.
I will get the M10x1.0 bleeder and test the clutch tomorrow

Me and my buddy finished ignition coils and ignition wires.

We fired it up briefly and it idles at 1.5k

I need to check the timing and tune the idle.

Tomorrow i will change the oil and play with basic settings.

Also i bought 12" spal puller fan

It fits great. There is almost 0.75" gap between the fan and water pump pulley.

Also my tacho pullup circuit doesn't work.

I use iac1 to drive the tacho but for some reason it doesn't work. Time to pull out the old oscilloscope and see how does the signal looks like

Today I welded v-band flange for Tial Q

I also installed my headlight and took it for a spin. I love the Tilton clutch. Its so smooth for being a 4 puck i could not believe it.

Car drove like crap though. Fueling is wrong and it was running way to rich.

Tomorrow i will put the valence and lights back so i can start tuning it.

Also i finished my downpipe. Now i need to ordr vibrant super quiet resonator and one of their mufflers to finiah my exhpust

    Omg Helmut is boosting.

Running on wastegate spring for now @9-10psi.

I had some boost creep issues with my tial mvs

I hit 23psi on 4th gear around 5k rpm. It felt awesome. But need to investigate and fix it before i blow the motor.

So i tuned helmut a bit more but i have a terrible boost creep issues. 10 psi with the wastegate completely removed from the manifold at 5.3-5.6k rpm and i still have 1200rpm to go.

I guess the not super optimal wastegate port location(90 degrees from the collector) and huge turbine (70/61mm) along with well flowing 3" exhaust are the culprits of my frustrations.

I already welded the baffle to deflect some of the exhaust straight into the wg port which had absolutely no effect on the creep.

Next thing to try is 44mm wastegate. I boight cheappo chinabay gate to test it.

If this fails i am going to get smaller hot side and if this fails than i will probably sell the turbo tial wastegate and blow off and get the BW efr turbo.

The time has come to upgrade awesome stock wheel/tire combo to something more substantial.

I have a set of ems 15x8/15x9 wrapped with kukmo ecsta v720
    205/50 fronts and 225/45 rears

Test fitted em and they look ok i. The rear and absolutely ugly up front.

I have only one word for the fronts.

    POKE-WAGON

I need to drop it another 1" up front.

So i started researching coilover options.

Bc racing hmmm not a big fan

Billy sports would be nice if they haven't been backordered everywhere

Koni race hmmm wont fit the strut housings.

But.......,wait a sec. How about chopping e30,e28 volvo 240,940 or 960 strut housing tubes and welding em to the e21 45mm spindles.

    So this is the plan.

Use 45mm strut housings. Chop the tubes and weld the 51mm tubes in.

I will need to run koni 8610-1436
    And most likely 30-5436 rears.

Add A1 Racing sleeves and i should be good to go

    Little update.

I got the strut tubes out of volvo 940.

They are perfect fit over the stock 45 mm tubes.

Volvos tubes are approximately 16" long.

I had a bit of an issue with one of the gland nuts. It kinda stripped the threads and know i need to find another 940 to get the extra tube.

    Here is the part list.

    Front:

    Ebay camber plates

    Ebay strut nuts.

    Koni race 8610-1437 strut inserts.

    A1 racing A1-12457-tk 6.5" coilover sleeve
    A1 racing A1-12460. Coilover adjuster
    A1 racing A1-12470. Spring hats

    Rears:

    Koni race 30-6436 12.25-18.25" shock
    A1 racing A1-12431 7" coilover kit
    Custom mounts

    Using 1/4"thick 4" diameter plate

And some shock mounts from aa-mfg. com

Stay tuned. Parts will come later this week.

    Suspension is done.

    Wheels are mounted

I started welding camber/toe adjusters for my rear subframe.

I also painted trailing arms and getting ready to solve my one tire fire problem.

I have 3.64 small case and a lsd unit from e36.

I used 320i struts chopped em and welded volvo 240 strut tubes. Works great.

Koni race are awesome for the street. I run 350lb front spring with stock sway and 400lb rear spring with no sway. Its a bit stiff but not too bad for the street. I have konis in the middle of the adjustment range.

    M10T in 6 weeks on a budget

I put the subframe in last Saturday along with 3.64 lsd.

I used e36 small case lsd unit in e21 diff.

I took it for alignment on Sunday.

    Front camber -1.5
    Rear camber -1
    Front 1/16 toe in
    Rear 1/16 toe in

Caster was 7.5 on one side and 8 degrees on the other side. Pretty good for eyeballed strut tubes and top mounts.

Car drives much better now but i will have to roll the rear fenders a bit more. It rubs slightly on one side.

Lsd and these sticky 225s are awesome.

Launched it from 4k rpms and it hooked without much wheel spin.

3.63 is a nice match for the turbo m10.

Ohh.that twin disc tilton have some hardcore engagement characteristics.

The guys at the shop could not get it on the alignment rack. Stalled it 7 times and eventually gave up hahaha. I had to put it on the rack for them. And the pushed it off the rack after they were done. They didn't even insist on test driving it after alignment.

It takes some time to get used to it.

This is such a cool project, and I'm impressed with your approach and execution.

How close was the OD of the BMW strut tube to the ID of the Volvo tube... I guess what I'm asking is how easy is it to center? Did you mount the rear shocks where the original spring mounts were?

I believe bmw od was maybe 1mm smaller than volvo id. 2-3 wraps of the paper tape and it was snug.

E21 has rear coilver setup stock ( unlike the e30 which have a separate spring). I mounted rears using stock attachment points. I welded custom top mounts tho to accept spherical bearing on koni race shocks.

Do you recommend a specific collar/stop for the strut sleeves, or is this just larger diameter tubing?
