With the colder weather I noticed my exterior side mirrors simply don't seem to heat up and remove frost/snow. Reading the manual it appears that this feature is pretty much standard on any vehicle and I'd be surprised if it wasn't.
Can someone confirm with me if it is standard or not? It's an 08 X3, has the cold package (heated steering wheel, heated seats).
This is what the manual states and it doesn't have any of the symbols besides it that indicate its a special feature or coding setting.
I did find this thread and wonder if it would apply, I know its for an E36 but..Automatic heating
When the outside temperature falls below aspecified temperature, both outside mirrors areautomatically heated whenever the engine isrunning or the ignition is switched on.

bump...
I took my mirror off, I have the power leads going to them and they measure 12V when car is on. The resistance on the mirror glass is 130ohms, that seems high. Can anyone confirm what the working resistance should be or is there a repair process for these?
thanks!
