Hi all, I'm working on my 2005 e64. The coolant hose to radiator blew off like a volcano!! Had just replaced the water pump due to suspected failure (typical high pitched squealing). At the same time did the thermostat, idler pulley, belt, radiator cap and of course coolant. Bled the system with vacuum system specially for our German cars . However I was not getting heat in the cabin. I assumed the system just hadn't built enough pressure yet. I plugged in the computer- the engine temp showed 230f radiator temp and 130f at radiator outlet. These temps after about 15-20 min of run time at about 55f ambient temp. Don't really know where to start at this point. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time in advance.

Did you fit an OEM expansion tank cap? The cap has a pressure relief valve fitted to it - it should vent before anything blows off! Also, your initial bleeding did not get rid of all of the air - which is why your cabin heater didn't work. This has been on a problem on the BMW V8's for absolutely years - here's how it's done on an E38:

Thanks so much for the quick response. No I did not install an OEM cap. I did it yesterday so I ran up to the auto parts store and bought an aftermarket cap. Of course it looks identical but obviously is not.
Thank you for the link I never even thought the process would be much different.
Also I accidentally posted this twice as I was on the mobile site and it didn't show up. I can't find anywhere to delete one of the posts.
