Hey guys. First time posting here. But thought its the best place to get some info.
Ive had my 2010 320d since last march.
But since december. Ive noticed that when i start the car up. The gears are really stiff. I have to give the gear stick a little wiggle before i put it in to reverse of 1st. When ive got going. Its been ok. I took it to a garage a little while ago and they had a look and said its fine. Could the cold effect it that much? Every morning so far has been about -2 to -4
If it's below zero where you are, then yes, that will definitely be the reason for your troubles. Gear lube is thick anyway, and the cold makes it even thicker. I wouldn't worry about it unless you have the same trouble in hot weather.

You can try replacing the transmission fluid with Redline D4 ATF. It is really good lube and it is noticeably easier to move the gear lever compared to 6 year old factory fill. And the whole job is cheap and easy - always a plus.
As noted above, your transmission (tranny) needs a different lubricant. BMW manual transmissions need a Gear Lube 4 (GL4) synthetic lubricant. Do not put a GL5 lube into the tranny. GL5 is too slick and the synchronizers in the tranny won't be able to synchronize the gears when shifting. Reline lubes may not be available in your country. Any synthetic GL4 will work. If you can get Redline then go with D4ATF. IIt's actually an automatic tranny fluid but it seems to work fine.
