Damn. For that price I would've driven back to VA to get them. See what I miss when work takes me away from the interwebs for a few days?!

Right price for a QUICK sale. What the heck would I do with them other use them for a spare when refinishing other cars? I have a stack of new tires in the utility room for the X5 that is becoming a point of conversation weekly. NEXT project!

Monthly Update: Replaced all the scuff plates and Sill step trim on all the doors. Model badge delete on the hatch. Cleans up the back end nicely.
Reason: Now that the door vapor panels have been resealed it was time to replace the rear scuff plates as they were water washed and sad looking. The front trim yelled out that they are 15 years old and would like to retire and the white marks on the passenger side were getting on my nerves. Mis ordered the rear ones as "M" parts so I pulled the trigger on the fronts as well to keep up the look. Replaced all the door and body seals last year, so this was a step to making the entry clean and nice.

Gee, now that the wagon has additional M Sport visual parts (this one came with M logo Sport Steering wheel trim) and door sills does that mean I own a second "M Car"?

Anyone need some entry trim parts? Fits all E39 applications (sedan/wagon) Local pick up only. Cost: $0

Wow man, Stephen, you still have those? If you still have them on the 7th, you going to Katie’s for Cars & Coffee? Bring ‘em with you, I’ll get them from you. Out of town right now, but will be back for that weekend, then I’m off to Dallas for 5 weeks. Wish they rented out E39’s out there.

Installed the M5 rear sway bar ...Transformed the fat butted swing to a flat turner. No more over loading the outside front wheel. Interesting the impact that 2 MM increase has on handling. My cost was ZERO as it came off another M5 that was upgraded to Dinan rear bar. End links were new on the suspension refresh so the entire project took no time. Took me longer to set up the car and get the tools out. Skills level required 2/10.

    Specs
    OE Sway Bar w/Sport Suspension (S227A) - 14 MM
    OE M5 sway bar - 16.5 MM

The most interesting part of the change is the flat feeling on even slow corners like in-town driving. Feels more controlled like my M5. Weird transformation for a 15/20 minute task.

Drove the wagon out to the Pittsburgh BMW CCA Octoberfest. No issues what so ever. Over 26 MPG round trip MPG. Took our time on the way out putting down State Route 40 most of the way. Kept on seeing 2002 on their way north but not much else. Nice drive with A/C on "Stone Cold" setting as the temps were in the 90's. Arriving in Pittsburgh on Thursday found the humidity stoped some where in MD as it was perfect weather to wonder the streets in town.
On the mountain roads the front brakes got a little toasty and started to talk. But cooled down quickly on the flats. Need to finish rebuilding and painting the 540/530 calipers so I can "UpGrade" the brake system.

I agree, I did the M5 rear sway bar swap as well, and it made a noticeable difference. I can take turns at pretty ridiculous speeds now with all 4 wheels on the ground.

+1 on Danny's assessment on the results of bolting on a thicker rear sway bar. The additional thickness forces the rear wheels to "take" more load on turns allowing a much more controlled turn in and once set on exit ramps you will notice a reduced weight shift to the front tires so you do not over load the outside tire. On wagons, we could even take a even thicker one from one of the aftermarket companies without moving into over steering issues.

Bottom Line: Easy 20 min bolt on (1 hr if you need to replace the end links- always a good idea!) INSTANT handling improvements. Cost: Low, Skill requirements: Low.
Note: Make sure your tire pressures are set correctly as a 2 psi difference left to right will be noticeable to a well tuned butt dyno.

    M5 Sway Bar Part Numbers

If a used bar is used make sure you get the brackets and replace the bushings before install.

Intake Cam Position sensor failure popping up. Only when the wife drives it (Ha ha ha). Reset codes and off it goes for another week. Parts now in so tomorrow its tear down, replace can sensor, replace seals on VANOS actuator as it get removed during disassembly. The Vanos valve sits on top of the intake cam sensor right at #1 &#2 cyl on these little inline 6s. Easy DIY project. Photos for those who have never been there done that coming tomorrow.

Hey Stephen, biggest pain in the buttcrack on that job pulling the vanos actuator out of the way, and unplugging the old sensor.

Started and finished this cam positioning sensor replacement yesterday. Easy job. Now I get to order more parts as the pressure side PS hose is leaking at the reservoir and the oil separator is original in spite of what the service records say. Oh the joy of it all,,,,,....

Make sure you get the bar to frame brackets and use the little reinforcement tabs that no one uses on the Dinan rear bar brackets as they always go to Breast Brackets to resolve once and for all breaking a bracket problem on M5s.

Congrats on the bar find, right price (Note measure the bar before you install it to ensure it is what you ordered/found) 16.5MM

    Update
Took a long run over the weekend 380 miles. 27.8 MPG at 77.4 MPH average. Now with the extra leg room from removing the seat track wedge, my legs felt great afterwards. Mileage muncher
Didn't even get dusty. My kind of drive.
The donor 530/540 calipers are rebuilt, Epoxy painted (Silver), new steel flex lines with all the pads and assorted hardware waiting to be installed this QTR. Rebuilding these calipers is so easy I do not understand why people do not do it as a DIY. The old pistons had water damage so out they went.

    Parts
BMW Brake Caliper Repair Kit - ATE 34111157037 $16.00
BMW 60mm Replacement Caliper Piston Front Centric 146.60009 $41.00

Note:ATE supplied the calipers to BMW so use these parts on the 530/540 calipers and save yourself approx $25

    Next project

    Steering P/S radiator return line 32411094306 1 $56.88
    Steering O Ring at cooler 10,82X1,78/FPM 17211742636 1 $0.99
    Steering Clamp Reservoir D=16,6-20MM 16121180242 1 $2.17
    P/S Reservoir Gasket Ring 32411128333 1 $5.26
Crank Case Ventilator Pipes Pressure regulating valve 11617533400 1 $73.18
    Vent Pipe 11617533398 1 $27.52
Vent Hose To Dip Stick Tube 11157532629 1 $29.79
    Return pipe 11617504536 1 $34.06
    Connecting line 11617504535 1 $39.77

With a little 6 Cyl this is a EASY project. Compared to an M5 there is so much room under the hood you can sleep in there.
