    I will be at the APEX 2 day Track event. April 1st and 2nd. Pretty excited. For those of you that have never been there. NCCAR is located 40 minutes from Raleigh NC. South of the Virginia Line 15 minutes on I-95. This is a great track to run. Everyone raves about the Peanut or Constant radius turn. What I really Love about going here is Apex runs clockwise Saturday and Counter Clockwise Sunday. The event staff is always outstanding. They have set up a really nice catered lunch for $6 bucks, Well worth the $. I have taken my E30 M3 to this track and it was one of the fastest cars on the track. I ran a E36 M3 once it was a blast. I currently went over to the dark side and am racing a 2016 Mustang GT. I am looking at a 2015 Cayman S and a 2015 M3 currently, but who knows I fell in love with the 2017 Grand sport Frost Blue Corvette I saw yesterday at the Chevrolet dealer. . IF you want to try running on the track for the first time this is a Great Start. If you have never ran at this track, but have experience you should come on out. A great price and great event. Also they have a Room Rate of $79 per night at the Hilton Garden Inn. I have stayed there a couple of times for business. Very nice place.

    This is our first event of 2017! We will update more information as we get closer to the event. On April 1st and 2nd 2017, Apex Track Events will host Apexfest 2, a two day High Speed Driving Event on North Carolina’s Center for Automotive Research’s road course.

    This road course is ideally situated in Garysburg, NC, so it is an ideal location for people from Raleigh, Richmond, and Hampton Roads to attend. The track is a 40 feet wide bi-directional freshly paved road course with a ½ mile straightaway, 11 constant radius turns and large grassy run-off areas.

    There is no competition for times or trophies but a lot of fun to be had. Virtually any car is fully capable of handling this type of event. You will be able to download a technical inspection form that your personal mechanic will perform before you leave home. All you need to bring is this and a Snell SA2010 or later helmet.

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    DISTANCE to NCCAR: I-95 Exit 176 (NC)

    85 miles from Richmond

    90 miles from Raleigh

    99 miles from Virginia Beach

    130 miles from Fayetteville

    181 miles from Wilmington

    185 miles from Fairfax

    231 miles from Baltimore

    234 mile from Myrtle Beach

    235 miles from Charlotte

    ///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

    Driving Directions:

    From Interstate 95, take Exit 176 turning east onto NC-46. Continue eastbound 0.4 miles to SR-1604 (Lowes Boulevard). Turn left onto Lowes Boulevard, drive for about one mile and take the first road on your left - Technology Drive. The entrance to NCCAR is half a mile ahead. Proceed through the gate and to the entry kiosk building.

    All you need to run this HPDE event is your car (in good condition) and a SA2010 or newer helmet. (A limited amount of loaner helmets will be available at a first come, first served basis.)

    In a convertible, you will also need to have a roll bar. This roll bar must be strong enough to withstand the forces of compression involved in supporting the full weight of the car. A factory roll bar such as those found on a Honda S2000 and Porsche Boxster may fulfill this requirement, but “style bars” or “show bars” found on some other cars like Saleen Mustangs would not work. Your helmet must not stick up above the rollbar (i.e. broomstick test.)

    We will have an at track safety inspection Friday night and Saturday morning. We have negotiated a great rate of $89/night at Hilton Garden Inn in Roanoke Rapids, NC which is convenient to the track. There will be a full day of track time and classroom instruction with 4-5 sessions.

    We have a block of rooms reserved at the discounted rate of $89 per night. Just call and tell them that you want a room from the "Apex Events" block.

    Hilton Garden Inn
    111 T Carolina Crossroads Pkwy
    Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870
    252-519-2333

    Spectators are allowed free of charge but they have to sign a waiver at the front gate.

    Overnight camping will be allowed at the track. Contact Sam True at NCCAR to make arrangements. There is also plenty of parking at the hotel for a truck and trailer. We can also tech your car if you bring the car to the hotel Friday night.

    Only instructors are allowed to have a passenger while on track.

    There will be liberal passing zones for novice and intermediate and advanced groups. Instructor groups can pass, offline, anywhere the wheels are straight. All groups require a point by for each car passing.

    Historically, this event sells out, so you will need to place your entry soon as registration is limited. The price for a full day at the race track is only $175 or $299 for both days. This event is open to all makes, models and experience levels.

    Don't miss out!

    Went to VIR this weekend. Good mix of cars there. Raced around with a couple Vettes, some M3's and a Lotus. Had a blast Cannot wait to get to NCCAR. Come on April!
