    Z4

    Hello,

New to this forum. I'm contemplating purchasing a my first BMW {a 2011 Z4}. It has the 35is motor/auto trans.
I was just wondering if this a relatively reliable motor. It will generally just be for myself and the wife going out for summer cruises with our 2 small dogs. At my age, I'm not looking for any temperamental high maintenance vehicles {been there, done that}. Thanks in advance for any input or experiences with this car.

    Best regards,

    Dan

The N54 motor that's in there is a great motor, but the 35is is a twin turbo setup; so that will definitely increase the cost of maintenance - you may have an issue with the oil cooler (not sure if the 2011 models have the upgraded one). I'd look at the 30i, which is the NA version. Best of luck!

You may get more responses if you post in the E89 forum for the 2009-present forum instead of the E85/86 2003-2008 forum. You may also get more responses in the E89 forum if the title of the post is more descriptive, like "How reliable is the 35is motor/auto trans?" instead of "Z4". Just trying to help you get people to respond to your post.

I was wondering just how small these dogs are, and where you might put them ?

Plenty of room in the trunk.

Probably safer than someone holding them. In an accident the dogs would almost certainly die if they were unrestrained in the cabin.
Not so much a signature as a cry for help.

Hold on, saw this in a cartoon once...think I can pull it off.
