    M50 crank sensor clearance issue

A strange issue - I've put together a non-vanos M50 for my e36, and installed the crank position sensor that I recently purchased for another engine (single vanos 94). There seems to be a clearance issue, as the sensor wheel is lightly contacting the sensor probe (hand cranked the motor), almost as if the sensor is too long.
As far as I can tell, there's only 1 part number - or am I missing something stupid?

I also only see 1 part number for the sensor, and the timing cover. Is it an OEM part, or something Chinese, from Autozoo?

It isn't oem, I can't remember the brand unfortunately. But I can confirm that it was a good operational sensor on my other motor for about 4 months! I'll do some measuring of crank wheels and sensor mounts tonight. Weird hey.

Are you 100% sure its the same engine? And not a single vanos M52?

On the M-50 motor, there should be an air gap of 1mm +/- .3mm between the sensor and pulse wheel or balancer.

    Ok, this problem continues.
I tried the exact sensor and trigger wheel combo on 2 other engine (1 single vanos and 1 non vanos), with no clearance issues at all.
Front covers seem identical, so the mounting boss for the sensor should be the same.
I'm at the point where I think I'll just have to shim the sensor to get the correct gap!

Voltage or ampere issues may crop up IF that is a mismatch sensor
