Hey guys! I picked up another touring after I killed my 525 from frame damage (below)
IMG_3275.jpg
So ever since I got into these cars I've been in love with white tourings. I put out a "WTB" and a few days later a white 530i arrived on a flatbed to my garage. Its definitely a project car and needs work, but its everything I wanted!! Its missing a few things but the car is there for the most part. the tranny is out of it and needs to be tested. It was swapped with a M60B40 and never ran after the swap so I figured why not try to get it going. heres some pix!

Would I mention it otherwise? You can't make the hottest part of an engine out of plastic and have it last more than a couple years. They crack like crazy.
Test drove another E34 last night for a friend and almost backed into my own because I forgot how to use an automatic

What are the best performance mods to do on the 60B44 while it's all apart...

Hey, that looks familiar.
To clarify the car's history as I know it. Car had been 4.0/6 spd swapped and was a running car but refused to start one day. Owner gave up and sold as a parts car to my friend who liberated the 6 spd set up and few odds and ends. I wound up with the remains which was destined for a part out. Glad you are going to save it and hope not too many surprises are in store.
At least leave the pedal box in place in case you change your mind about the automatic v manual transmission.

Got a FEW parts on the way

So I went on eBay and ordered a metal thermostat housing, like you said. but I received this in the mail

For a M62 :/
In for updates. I haven't necessarily hated the 5sp auto in my 540iT (I'm confident the trans has a chip, too) paired with a 3.46 Quaife, but rest assured the second the trans looks at me funny, it's gone. I get the downtown traffic argument, but the real enjoyment of these cars is becoming more and more about the weekend/backroads, IMHO. If you're limited to having one car, which I totally get, then the auto B40 is not a bad combo whatsoever!
Once I get a second car to daily this will definitely be paired to a 6 spd. But that won't be until after college. The current goal is to make a sweet cruiser that has power on tap and will turn heads when I step on the pedal I plan on keeping this one until the day it literally can not be fixed anymore. Updates will be coming!

Sigh... if only I was still in high school and had this much time to spend..
haha thats why I'm trying to get it at least drivable before college.
You are correct! They look good in almost any state. At least for those of us that can see the finish line in our minds.
