Repairing Oil Leak from Oil Filter Housing Gasket and Oil Cooler Gasket

    Hi All,

I'm repairing the leak from my oil filter housing this weekend and need some confirmation since all the DIY videos has the oil cooler with the heat exchanger. My vehicle is a 2011 535i (production date 08/2010) so my oil cooler seems to be a little different and does not have the heat exchanger. In fact, I believe the later production model of the 535i even using a different thermostat housing, but I'm not completely sure.

Q#1-Can someone confirm that the top bolt shown in the picture below (with the red arrow) is to remove the oil cooler lines? All the other DIY videos I have come across has a bolt on the bottom of the oil cooler to remove the oil hose lines.

Q#2-What are the two torx screws (with the green arrow) for? I believe I do not need to remove these torx screws but can someone confirm?

Thanks in advance for your help!

I responded to your other thread. Just FYI, starting more than one thread on the same topic, while it may get more views and responses, is generally frowned upon.

Yeah, I posted here first and realized I should have posted in the mechanics section. In my defense, I did try to delete this post!

Again, I do appreciate the responses.
