Need help with spring compressor

My new Advance Auto spring compressor won't compressor the front spring of my e38 740il spring enough to get it back onto the shock. I don't want to spend another $80 for a better spring compressor and find out that doesn't work either.

Is there anyone local with a spring compressor who would lend it to me for a week? Or maybe some other arrangement?

I'm in Baltimore, MD.
