All right I bought a $50 eBay new regulator with motor it's on its way (I know, I know) but I plan to buy the metal wheels through WEEBLY to be installed on the aftermarket regulator. They should fit/this should work right? I would attempt taking off the door card and digging in myself to fix it but My mechanic I bought the car from will fix for 1 hour of labor which I think sounds like a pretty good deal. Thoughts?

and I'm thinking I'll have Him try and diagnose the gas milage issue at the same time, before I go spending money on a new MAF/o2 sensors in case that turns out not to be the issue.

Anyone ever have any luck with cleaning their MAF sensor? A friend of mine told me he tried it on his e36 and it never works.

Okay so my window regulator is fixed.

Mechanic claims my gas milage is about normal since I'm mostly only doing city driving (getting 10-11mpg according to the computer, which I can not believe is normal)

and since I'm not getting a CEL on the dash they doubt the MAF or o2 sensors could be the issue.

    What do i do?

I would recommend filling your tank and figure your mpg the old fashion way on the following fill up. Mileage driven between fill ups ÷ gallons.

Just plati dipped the kidney grills. Holy crap it is hard to remove those things. I'm not mechanically inclined @ all not that I think it would've made a difference. Took about 35 minutes of torturing my fingers to get them out and I broke off like 3-4 clips on each grill. Luckily they seem redundant as the grill pops in just the same with them missing. My craftsmanship rly sucks on the plasti dip as it's kinda splotchy. Looks fine unless ur 1 foot away though. Probably gonna buy some matte black plastic ones off eBay for $25 and pop them in.

still need to do the black side moulding too as it's pretty faded. Any one know what I can use to remove the trim?

Also, had to take it in to the shop to fix a broken radiator hose. Temp gauge was going all the way to the right the second I turned on the car o_O

    My current plans:
Pilot Sport 2 all season tires
black smoked Alteeza style tails (ghetto I know but I like the way they look so whatevs)
    clear corners on headlights
    HIDs with halos
    alpina front lip
need to refresh something on suspension. I hear a springy clunking sound in the rear when going over bumps.
Need a few very small dents pulled and paint correction

also, shortly after my radiator hose was replaced @ the shop, the red oil light started flickering on the dash. Only shows up when I'm braking or stopped at a light really, not while I'm on the accelerator. Thoughts?

grills are super cheap online... "Action crash" makes some great knock offs... They all break, even the brand name ones, over time, so might as well just part out the car or sell it to me... It's junk now ...

Whenever I plan on removing the grills, or whatever, I have a spare set waiting to pop in... They are like 12$ for a set... Partsgeek.com

Check oil level or maybe you cooked the motor because of that bad hose.

If you want Black Grills I suggest ECS touring I bought a couple off EBAY and they were all crap but the ECS grills worked perfect https://www.ecstuning.com/b-ecs-part...1-3801-bk~ecs/ they have matt or gloss they fit nice and tight

The kidney grills come out in a jiffy...all it takes is to raise the hood slightly (recommeded)...then either gently rap the grill with the ball of your hand or take a small piece of 2x4 wrapped in a towel/rag + a hammer...and again GENTLY knock the grill inward toward the car.

This separates the grills from the chrome surround...and takes like 1 minute to do both. The kidney grills get removed by knocking them (GENTLY) in toward the car...the chrome surround then pulls away easily after the grills are removed. To replace with new (or old after reassembly)...press the entire kidney (grill & surround) in from the front...everything should snap back into place.

    {honestly...this is NOT a joke...this is the easy way to remove the kidney grills...except you do it with the hood slightly raised...using a GENTLE tap (not gorilla punch) }

    {the old grills below are mine and my bro-in-law's e38 grills that were removed using the method above...as you can see, both sets were still intact after removing them back in 2003 for mine and 2005 for my bro-in-law's}

    Exclamation

Installed some new tail lights. $168 shipped off the bay. Very simple but it took me like a half hour to get the bottom right bolt off from behind the drivers side tail lamp there is no space back there!! Now I'm getting a "CHECK BRAKE LIGHT" notice on dash at start up and when I shut off the car. Any idea how I clear that?

It's my DD but theres still a lot left to do to get this car up to spec.

Brakes are squishy. Requires a lot of pedal travel to stop. Does this just mean new brake pads are needed or rotors too? If it's the whole set I need to replace I'd like to upgrade to 750il brakes or something else better and reasonably affordable

suspension rattles over bumps. Its relatively comfortable when driving but def not how it's supposed to feel I don't think. Car is at 111k miles right now, I've read front suspension needs replacing at around this point but I'm not sure if I can tell if it's front or back. And what parts specifically do I need to buy to replace it? Control arms? Struts? Springs? Idk

still getting 15 mpg combined. Was told to try new MAF sensor and o2 sensors but I'm not getting a check engine light so should I actually try this? Maybe engine needs a tune up/new spark plugs?

A few interior trim pieces are coming detached. How do I fix.

Bass is awfully loud and drowning out music from stock stereo system. Even when I turn the bass all the way down. Car has DSP. Any idea if this is a common issue? I think all speakers are good. Could it just be the subwoofer that needs replacing?

Transmission is shifting normally. No real issues but I feel it could shift a bit quicker/smoother. Will replacing the trans fluid help with this? My mechanic is strongly against changing it, although I understand it does need to be changed eventually or it could fail around this mileage point

Sorry for all the questions just trying to take good care of my car!!

This warning stops lighting up when all rear brake light bulbs are functioning. You don't mention checking all the rear brake light bulbs (including the 3rd brake light on the rear parcel shelf). Report back if you've checked ALL the bulbs

Have you checked your DSP (7-band EQ) settings to see if the lower frequencies have been pushed up? Are you using a previous owners DSP MEMORY setting? Or have you set your own DSP memory settings? Have you tried turning off any of the DSP memory setting for a flat DSP sound?

I'm sorry. The notice actually says "CHECK BACK UP LIGHT", and all bulbs are working.

Dsp looks like this, no adjustments made:

For your suspension, will it make the rattle going over slow bumps? Because then you can determine if it rattles when the bump hits the front or rear suspension.

Any wobble when braking or at speed? That helps narrow it to certain front suspension items.

For me, after I replaced the front thrust and control arms (to cure wobbling steering wheel under braking) I still had creaking/clunking noises up front. When I swapped my struts to coilovers, I installed new strut mounts front and rear instead of re-using the old ones, and that cured the clunks. I'm certain it was the mounts and not the struts themselves.
