Hi,
New to BMW forums and looking for some assistance with a 1 Series M having TPMS issues. New rims and tires put on by Discount Tire and all worked for a month, now getting TPMS "Inactive" error on dash. DT says they can scan the sensors but can't clear or re-learn. BMW dealership said they were intermittent in their scans of the sensors and that the RDC is probably fine but needs brand new TPMS sensors at a cost of $200 per sensor.
I have searched parts websites that deliver full kit of 4 sensors for only $250. Why is BMW dealership 4 times the cost? Can the cheaper sensors work with the RDC unit too?
Thanks!
Lucas
Hello not sure if cheap sensors will work, but you will probably find that when they fitted new tires they damaged the sensors. Go back to where the tires were fitted and ask them to replace
Battery or batteries bad. You can buy separate without valve. Dealer should have checked battery level on them. Discount Tire should have given you option to replace while tires were dismounted. I'd buy new batteries for all four and go back to Discount and have them installed.
