and sadly no old BMW anymore, only high powered Seat Leon Cupra 4Drive as a daily driver.
Fixed exhaust leaks and removed my mufflers. No mufflers on this exhaust sounds very good to my ears. There's a bit of drone in the cabin, but it's not bad, if either the gf or I get sick of it, I'll do some math and build a couple tube resonators, which should take care of it

Got a preview pic of new wheels. Waiting on gold bolts to get back in stock. But still need to find a e38 to put them on.

Spaceships & Woodgrain.
Pulled intake and water pump.
Replaced cooling system pipes O-rings. It was leaking coolant at the rate of about 1-2 cups a week. After living in denial for nearly a year, I finally capitulated and did this job.
Also replaced one of the knock sensors, just because I bought one a couple years back and its been sitting in the garage. The other one was replaced about 4 yrs ago.
Took about 7 hrs.

Really, really nice color combo there. Makes the grey interior look very nice, and the wood looks great too.

Have OE 750 kidneys, might put them on, or

Got the front half of my ST coilovers on today. Will attempt the rear next week, which also requires an SLS delete. So far they ride great, much more controlled over bumps but not harsh like the stock ones, which are worn out, stiff, and lack rebound control.
Ready for surgery
Result
They can probably go almost an inch lower, maybe a bit less. I originally set the spring perch to the lowest recommended height, then raised it a few turns to remove any slack on the springs. Wanted to eliminate all possible rattles. But my wheels rubbed the spring perches, so I raised them some more.
On the stock shocks, the tires go under the spring perches, but the ST springs come lower. This is them raised up to about the same height, which still gives about a 1.5-2" drop. I'm now sitting around 26.75" fender to ground. After it settles and right before I get an alignment I may bring it down a bit more, if I get some spacers first.
Once everything is done and settled I will do a complete write up and review.
Swapped out the radiator this afternoon and changed the oil. Now to see if the system got bled properly.
has anyone deleted evap system or EGR from their E38?
Thinking about doing this, or at least the V8 kidneys on my sport. Mine is Anthracite and they get lost in the dark front end a lot of the time. I figure at least the chrome outline would suffice, but it would be the only chrome on the car and I can't decide whether I like how they look. Something about the OEM chrome e38 kidneys don't look right to me - maybe... cheap? Trevor's new thread of the Anthracite Sporty getting the S62 has been on my mind because my car is a clone to it and it has the V8 kidneys.
Also got a power bleed done today because of an alarming drive on the highway. For pretty much the entire time I've had this car, the front right brake has always dragged slightly and warped rotors very slightly. Replaced the caliper and it still did it. Got a dealership brake bleed and still did it. Got on the highway today all these months later and couldn't even keep the wheel in my hands because it shimmied so much. I HEARD the rotor wobbling at 55 and higher, and stabbing the brakes threw the car into the other lane. Pulled over thinking that the wheel was literally loose, but smelled the front right brake immediately and the wheel was black.
My mechanic had no idea what to do because of the background information. The front right pad and rotor is practically disintegrated while the others are all meaty. On a hunch, we decided to bleed the fronts since there was some dirt residue in the brake fluid, and it WORKED! The brakes feel millions of times better and they don't drag at all, or at least, it doesn't feel like it. Now I have a ruined rotor because they shimmy like hell on braking and rebedding didn't do squat. When I was having the problem, I drove the car like 40 miles because I had to turn back around, which was 39.9 miles too many for how bad it was.
Coincidentally, my gas mileage has returned!! Easily was getting 18 mpg in bumper to bumper traffic, while I was getting 9 mpg before no matter what and it felt really down on power. The brake was dragging that badly. Now it coasts beautifully, accelerates great, and is smooth. Such a weird byproduct.
