Started in on a valley pan job...got the intake manifold off
Added this USB port. Unfortunately, with the AC ducting and mounting bracketry under the panel, this is where it fits. But it's much better than the one in the crappy $15 E39 cupholder I was using before.

Repaired a bad connection in the 3-spoke wheel button harness and lubed the wheel up/down wormgear and pivots... no more annoying grind!
It's the small things.....
Not much, waiting on parts and on the next week. Ill take it to the machine shop to have block cleaned up and heads since the last owner looks like didnt have money for an oil change and when i opened it was cover with a thick layer of sludge
Enjoyed a nice 600 mile ride to Virginia. Only issue was a failed right front window regulator...no surprise. Plastic pulleys didn't fail, it was the plastic cable-end block that attached to the framework.
I think I'll Belzona the blocks on the new one, seen it three times now, different windows. Also trying to keep the glass weatherstrips clean and lubed, if the glass sticks going down it puts mucho stress on
cable bits and parts.
Short version: got my front tires re-balanced (road-force balancing) to cure a front-end shimmy.
Long version: Almost exactly one year ago I replaced my front control arms (upper and lower) to cure a front-end shimmy, which had a mild vibration while driving but a dangerous shimmy while braking through 60-50mph. I had my (then-new) current wheels and tires mounted at the time, which had not been road-force balanced. After the control arms were replaced there was still a slight shimmy above ~40mph, which I attributed to the center link not having been replaced. Fast forward a year, and the shimmy has gotten worse, nearly to the same point it was last year. I feared that a worn center link was also wearing out the new control arm bushings.
However, I noticed that the vibration and shimmy would change after going around a few corners. So I surmised that there was a wheel imbalance issue which could also be playing a part - the wheels rotate at different speeds around a corner, thus changing the imbalance between them. I just got the front rebalanced using a road-force machine at Discount Tire (great service, only $55). The tech said one wheel was out about 3 grams (1.5g on both the inner and outer sides in different spots) and the other was out about 1.5g total.
Although I haven't gotten above 60mph yet, it seems that at 50mph and below all the noticeable shimmy I felt before has disappeared. Fingers crossed this has solved the issue!
Got myself some new shoes

Your current situation is not your final destination
Identified my coolant leak - water pump weep hole. 256K miles, pump was stamped with an '08 casting date.
Replaced pump, o-rings at both ends of pipes, most of the hoses including the 4 heater hoses, intake manifold gaskets, refurbished injectors, rear intake CCV plate, water pump pulley (original was cracked), belts, and brake booster vacuum valve (sucking jet pump). Rear most intake port on LH side had a suprise for me, 1 inch rubber bushing sitting in there. Looks like it's the piece that is supposed to fit around the vacuum check valve in the secondary AIR system. Must have fallen in there during a previous owner's service and went unnoticed.
Runs great now - rock solid idle, and reported fuel mileage is up by 1.5-2mpg on the way to work today!

Drove 380 miles to LA and back. Car showed 26.6 MPG and 50mph average, which seemed pretty unbelievable. Filled up and measured myself, 21mpg is the true number. Not bad for 80mph+ on the highways and stop-and-go LA traffic!! No idea why the computer was off so much, it's pretty accurate on my 14mpg around town.
Im back baby!!!
E31 M73 Forever
Cleaned the crap out of her after not even washing it since August. After 5 hours, I still need to do the entire inside and a few coats of wax for good measure.
