Nope, no idea there even is a tensioner.
Where it is located, maybe next oil change I will adjust it.

There is a bit of play, but I saw somewhere it needs to be ~10mm of play on each side of chain.

    Yep, there does need to be some play. I see people mistakenly tightening the hell out of their chain, but it's factory specced for that amount of play. This was mine with about 120k kms on it;

Looks like maybe too much slack in the oil pump chain tho.....

Hey man, I've been alright. I think I've only put like 50km on the 7 in the last 5 months haha. Next time you drop your oil pan, you should take those bolts out and use something like Loctite (or whatever you have, a thread locker) to make sure they never come out again, I did that to mine. The m60's love to back their bolts out... I had that same bolt sitting in my pan at just 120k kms!! Scary stuff.

We just had a huge cyclone up north and the storms reached where I am... I had the 7 out in the carport (which was SECURE with 8 tie downs and lots of reinforcement, I had one survive through 2 major storms and last 5 years before I took it down so I know it could handle it). But right before the storms were about to clear we got smashed by some insane winds, it destroyed the carport with my 7 inside, I ran out in the weather and I was stuck there for 10 minutes straight with my legs tucked under the rear bumper, hanging on to the mangled carport for dear life trying not to let the wind carry it away (and smash my car up in the process). I finally got a 15 second break in the winds, enough for me to get my phone and pocket dial home to get some help. Once everyone was helping hold things together, I went to start my 7 to drive it out to safety and... dead battery. Life was against me lol. But we finally got a small break in the weather so they held it while I ran around cutting it free, and we managed to flip it over the other side of my car without damaging anything, then we crushed it down with tyres and scrap metal.

Insanity. 15 big trees down, many smaller ones, flooding... A HUGE branch came down about 3m behind my 7 too, got so damn lucky. I'm still in agony because I was struggling so hard to hold that thing down by myself for so long, every muscle in my body was taxed to the limit. The things we do for our E38's right?! Anyway, charged the battery and now the weather is PERFECT so I'm going to start driving it again, but so much damn work to do on the clunky crappy front end suspension. To be honest I just don't enjoy driving it when it feels so poor, and my energy levels and motivation are non existent lately, so I don't know what I'll do or when I'll do it sadly...

Tried to clean up the front brakes, because steering wheel has started to shake while braking softly. On the right side brake rotor bolt head is torn and didnt have time to drill it out. So got it half way done. I think the problem is that rotors are so "glazzed", you could almost see your face from the rotor. I drove a little whille softly kept braking to get them heat up a little and now the shaking seems to be gone. Anyways, gotta order new front brakes later on.

My battery stopped holding charge so I just went and replaced it, turned out it was dated as 2009, almost 8 years, not bad.
also fixed two dings on Bucks 750

Every time I see Max, he spots a tiny bump I never even noticed.

Also since Max was panning while I backed up, I now have a 750i.

    A 750 i huh?

I know the feeling - I have a small dent that is in my hood - was supposed to have been fixed before repainting frontend several years ago, they forgot about it....now I look at it every time I walk by. I guess after 16 years if that is all I have I am lucky!!

Installed some weather stripping along my window sills to replace the broken OEM rubber. $7 and I ran it all the way along the top. Now I don't have to look at the dirty plastic clips by the rear door.

Black & white photos as I'm still finishing my vinyl wrap. Color to be revealed when it's finished!

I've already forgotten the brand, picked it up at Lowe's. There were two of those D-shapes side-by-side, I just cut down the dividing foam between them with scissors.

The orange-peel texture is due to the vinyl wrap. With a glossy vinyl, there's usually that texture up close due to the air-release channels underneath.

Paul was the guy here on the board that had some made up to use as a replacement for our OEM stuff.. I believe it ran about 15.00 for enough to do one car.

I did not realize you had a vinyl wrap...sorry.

Ah yes Paul's solution, I recall that but I wasn't sure if it was still available. It really looked like a great OEM replacement.

No worries on the orange peel comment. It is one legitimate drawback of the vinyl, but since I've diy-ed the whole thing, I can't complain much in comparison to the cost of a full respray!

I can appreciate the work - it took three tries to get my front end covered with Xpel, at least the hood and it still has several stretch marks....

Uhhh... thats almost like when you have audi a6/a4 2.7bi turbo V6 engine, to change alternator belt, you also have to take whole front end off.

Me meanwhile changed black carpets that I ordered ages ago from Germany.
